The Last Cruise of the Year! October 8-9!

We're now at the end of the driving year and have only one cruise left, our Fall cruise. We wanted to make it special, and given that our Door County cruise was so popular, we thought we'd make this another jam packed multi-day cruise as well. With some help from our Viper friends, this year's Fall cruise will take us to the Quad Cities! This is a busy cruise, lots of stuff worth seeing and it jammed in only two days. This will be another very popular cruise - but we're a little late getting the word out so please act fast! Let's make it big!

We'll be starting off in our usual spot at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg. Throughout the cruise we're going to tour a liquor distilling company, world's largest truck stop, the oldest soda parlor fountain and ice cream parlor in the world, an army arsenal and museum, and the John Deere pavilion in Moline. We're also going to have a cruise night on our first night, we're going to catch the Corvette's by surprise. We also have a great lunch stop planned as well as a Sunday morning breakfast that overlooks the Mississippi River! This is a jam packed weekend.

Best of all, the club is subsidizing this cruise completely! There will be no entry costs! You only pay meals and hotel. You can visit the website for details at: http://www.illinoisvipers.com/pit/cruises_eventinfo.html.

To register:

1) You need only call Nancy and let her know you're coming. You can reach her at (847) 573-9415.
2) Call the hotel and make your arrangements. They are holding a room block only until Sept 30th. So call now!

Please let us know you're coming before October 5th!

You're going to love this one!

For those wanting to make a really long weekend of it and see a concert - CHICAGO is playing at the I Wireless Center in Moline, IL on Friday evening, 10/7 at 7:30 pm. Great place for a concert.

Let me know if your a golf nut looking for a game, other requests, or would like to know more about other interesting places to visit around the Quad Cities.

I would also like to add a bit about dining on Saturday evening. Right now I believe the itinerary has us arriving at the hotel around 7:00-7:30ish. The schedule mentions dinner on your own, and there are a couple options.

First, during the cruise-in at Southpark Mall, there are dining choices inside the mall (typical mall fare). At the casino there is a nice steakhouse/seafood place, but I would highly recommend making reservations there since it is a Saturday evening. The food is very good and reasonable - about $35/person. There are only a couple dozen tables, so do reserve early!

There is also a decent buffet at the casino, and is a "Surf & Turf" on Saturday for only 10bucks. To get the pricing, you have to sign up for the player's card at the front, but that only takes a couple minutes. All you big gamblers will want to anyhow! :D Because the buffet is in the casino area, minors are not allowed. They are welcome at both the steakhouse and a cafe/diner. Other than that, there isn't too much around the facility, so do plan ahead!

I don't know if there's an official announcement about kids, but I'm bringing mine. Everywhere scheduled is kid-friendly!

Alex, Do you have an approximate time line as there may be a few Vipers from Iowa that try to join us along the way?

Thanks - and again, if anyone has any special requests, let us know and we will try to give you a warm Iowa welcome.

What time and where are we trying to hook up with the IL folks? I will be coming over from Cedar Rapids Saturday morning... anyone else want to drive together or meet along the way?

Watch for an email from me regarding Iowa meetups (if you're on the IowaVipers mailing list). We have a half-dozen or so already committed to cruise east from Bettendorf on Saturday morning.

Nancy has a hard-copy printout of the directions and departure times - I'm sure she'll be bringing copies for the Iowa people too. But, from my notes this is what's expected:

Arrive Fulton - no later than 11:30
Leave Fulton - 1:00ish
Leave LeClaire - 3:00ish
Leave Truck Stop - 4:30ish
Leave Candy Kitchen - 6:00ish
Leave Cruise-in - 7:30ish

Sunday - Leave Casino - 9:15
Leave Brunch location - 11:15
Leave Arsenal - 2:00-2:30
Leave JD Pavilion - ?

It was awesome seeing 33 Vipers blasting down I-80. The looks we got were priceless. When we rolled into the little towns, it seemed as though everything stopped and we were THE attraction. Great ride, great people, great time!!!!

Best quote from the trip was from a kid in Wilton, IA: "HOLY CRAP, Look at all the Vipers!"

Great seeing everyone and their awesome rides.

Let's start seeing some pics as I'm sure there was a few taken!

Rather than post here, I made my Facebook folder public:
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150357214727072.372551.647582071&type=3

If I'm not mistaken, the final tally was 34 different Vipers and 66 people attending throughout the weekend! A new record for the IL club, and 13 cars were from Iowa!

I think this cruise should be referred to as the "Sinners' Cruise" as we had lot of food (gluttony), gin, vodka, guns, BIG guns and a casino! Only thing missing was the strippers! ;)

My wife and I had a phenomenal time!!! The Wilton Candy Kitchen was the highlight of the trip for us. Would be fun to do this again.
