How far are you from Philly? A Viper bud up that way is selling an open car trailer custom built for his Viper. Like new condition. Garage kept. About 1,000 miles on it. $3,500 obo.
steel used can be had 1500-2500 for a plain-jane trialer. aluminum new is close to 5k. somewhere in between is what you'll want. Featherlight, texas-roll-back... those are on the higher side. bri-mar (for example) is a more generic trailer that will also work nicely.
I bought an all aluminum open trailer from ATC (aluminum Trailer Co.). Its 18ft long with a ****** tail, Dexter torsion axles, 4 wheel brakes, removable fenders (although my gen 3 car doesnt require removal)breakaway kit, under 2000 lbs empty, and has a 7000lb rating. I bought it from an independant rep in Michigan brand new and paid less than $4000. I have used it to haul my Viper from Wisconsin to VOI9 and I couldn't tell it was behind me. Its a great trailer.
