Welding on exhaust, any danger to systems?

Have those of you that had your exhaust welded on done anything in particular before doing it to prevent electrical spikes from damaging you computer system? Unhook battery, ??

Arc welding of any type would seem to me to subject the chasis and everything connected to it to some real intense pulses of electricity?

Definitely disconnect the battery! Do it at the battery terminals, not just the jump studs! I've welded my exhaust on the car. (Other wise can mess your charging system and PCM up, disconnecting the battery is a must and you will be OK to weld on car).
