Why 505cid?

Excuse my ignorance but why built a new engine to get 50 horses? I think that 488ci is BIG enough to get waaayyy past 500hp.


P.S. Not that I dont like the idea of a 505ci big block V-10 under the hood I'm just curious.

Lower profile motor.Crank dropped 3/4" in the block.Lower intake.Shallower oil pan but with side compartments.This equals a lower CG for the motor and the ability to sit it lower in the frame.Lower CG for the car.Hood is 1" lower.Heads flow better.Block has deeper skirts to make it stronger etc,etc. Bruce
