Mary just won a Viper! They had a 2008 Venom Red on the Price Is Right $1,000,000 Challenge and she won. She had to guess the price: $87,?10 and the choices were 5, 7, 9, & 1. Of course she picked the right number and won ----> $87,910. Pretty neat to see. Now my question is, will she end up on here or end up having to sell the car? I am actually eager to find out.

I wonder if she has to pay California Sales tax or the tax rate were she lives???
Both states per price is right rules. Most people will not win enough cash to offset that price. Before possesion they would have to cough up at least 45K. Sales tax both states and income taxes. While it looks glamorous on TV most people can't aford the prize taxes and just forfeit them back to the show. Neighbor won the showcase a couple years ago, overall take from the show was 32K in prizes. They ended up just keeping a tandem axle pop up camper which cost them $6800 which they picked up locally but still paid CA sales tax, the rest they gave back to the show.

The girl after her did better winning $1,000,000 cash by guessing the price of 2 items in 10 seconds with Drew telling her "higher" or "lower". She guessed the price of the first item on her first guess, leaving her 9 seconds to guess the price of the second item.

:)

Then she won 3 Jeeps in her showcase

I figured as much because since these prizes are so expensive, I could only see a fraction of people being able to keep them.

She cashed out pretty well last night. $1.089 million worth of cash and prizes.

That should be illegal... game shows, sweepstakes and lottos should advertise winnings as AFTER tax, not before. I mean what's the point? You don't really WIN... you're just getting an option to buy it cheap.

The last Viper winner on Price is Right had to sell it - the car is still in Kansas City as is the winner. And the car in the show isn't necessarily the one they take home - the dealers kept the yellow one from the first show and sent them a black one. Go figure.

Oh, and the Missouri Lottery is giving away THREE 2008's in "second chance" drawings. And all three include the sales/income taxes paid by the lottery. :2tu:

There is a big Indian Casino here that almost always has a Viper on display, as well as advertised on billboards near Portland OR (VCA member Joe C's car) ...several have been won on SLOTS, all from Eric Lee/Latham Dodge...... tax situation is the same, but several cars have been delivered!
