Re: You\'ve got to be kidding me . . .

lol if it makes you feel any better it's for GT regulations for use in racing like LeMans and where are you getting an Aston Martin out of a viper Andrew? :) The car next to the CC I think is a Azcari.

Re: You\'ve got to be kidding me . . .

That's a world cup CC - the nose was designed so the car
could get better airflow, better speeds, and (maybe?) to
distiguish it from "stock" CCs. I heard Roush built them
to take on LeMans, but don't know if they are planning to
them there.

As vipers go you're looking at the baddest of the bad. This
will eat alive a "stock" CC with the same driver.

Say what you want, but that's beauty in my book.

Guys, that is the 2006 World Challenge CC. Just watch Speet GT and that is the body work that Tommy Archer, Foster, Woodhouse and McCann and all the others have. Notice the shorty exhaust coming out mid-sill as well.I know this because I have the same body work on my Comp Coupe- a World Challenge car, in my garage...#64.

Also notice a different front splitter as well as a much larger rear wing. It also has a remapped ECU,Brembo 2 piece rotors, headers, shorty exhaust, etc. It also requires 100 octane unleaded vs. the stock CC needing only 93 octane. They only make 20 horse more...wink wink.

Good Aerodynamics are critical to maximize racing performance(Top Speed, Mileage, etc)!

The car looks like a beautiful WINNER!

Isn't it great that not all of us like the same things. It helps keep the Viper interesting. I like it.

No, you're not. The WCCC is one **** beast and gets lots of
positive attention wherever it goes. I like the old style CC
more, but in no way is the WCCC the atrocity that is the SRT.

Re: You\'ve got to be kidding me . . .

Seems like Dodge sold this CC this year. The updated nose is an aerodynamical update.
The "old" CC is also still for sale, so I figure these updated versions could be bought at Viper HQ.

The updated versions are raced in the Speed GT and the FIA GT3 championship.

Seems like those pictures are taken in Essen. I will go there this sunday and get some more Viper pictures there.

I think that it looks awesome. The white side view mirrors need to painted red, however.

Re: You\'ve got to be kidding me . . .

It in deed is the new CC spec'd out for World Challenge:

Different Nose
Radiator Core
Radiator
Adjustable Sway Bar
Air Box
Triple Adjustable Suspension (VRL has Double)
Belanger Headers Center Exit Exhaust
Different Splitter
Different Wing
These cars are being used for WC the FIA cars are trying to change so they can upgrade to 6 piston brakes (not the srt brakes on VRL)
And also a center hub release (not legal in World Challenge or any american venue).

Lot's of goodies so it can be more competitive. This year will be an exciting time for the Viper.

Bonkers,
Why do you have such disdain for the SRT? It seems like all your posts or replys to posts have some kind of unkind remark for the Gen.3.....Iam new to the Viper world after owning many vettes and I must say, (their were models I didnt like),1 Porsche and 2 300ZXs but each had its good and bad.
I now have an 06 Coupe after selling my 01 GTS which some will say is a mistake,lol..I cant comment on either since I have not owened either for long...I guess Iam just not used to someone putting down a car of the mark he owns but you are entitled to your opinion..Is it the looks, power?,have you spent time in one? Well I guess I will end this question with a question..Cant we all just get along?lol :nana: :nana: :nana:

Well think about it, Bonkers is just that.. Bonkers. He bought a Viper that was all but burned to the group, poured tons of money into it to make it a clone gen 2 GTS-R (Gt2), and after all that money he could have bought a gen 3, which would outperform his poor knock of GT2, yet he is stuck with it, cuz of the money he poured into it.

I feel bad for bonkers too, I mean after all he won the SRT Comp Coupe, and couldnt keep it. Wouldnt you hate Gen 3 guys for that too?

Ok, lets leave bonkers alone to sulk,

Jon

Aww... now be fair, not all my posts are designed to slander
the Gen3... ... okay, maybe a lot, but not all.

As a car I like the SRT, especially the braking (damn I love
the braking) but I will never accept it as a viper - sorry. I
have driven them, and have raced them, my opinion is not blind-
sided. To me the SRT is simply proof that the new DCX would
much rather have had a vette in it's stable. And the Gen3.5
looks to be an even bigger compromise (yeah I know, hard to
believe.)

But please don't misplace my disgust - I have no disrespect
whatsoever for those who own them or prefers them to the Gen1/2
- you are right, each have their strong points. My anger is
based towards DCX for even allowing them to be built in the first
place, especially considering they had that **** beast of a GTSR
Concept collecting dust at their shows.

Re: You\'ve got to be kidding me . . .

I went to the Essen fair yesterday and took some pictures myself.
The CC looks great... only the inlets/outlets in the hood are not my style.
They look like the Diamondback hoods wich I've seen here on some Gen I and II cars.

The lighting was very bad, so these aren't the best pictures.

(I have the originals in 2272 x 1704)

This '99 GTS was shown as a restoration project.
The owner bought it as damaged, and did a lot of the repairs himself. Showing it is possible to restore a supercar yourself but with some professional help.
The car looked great... only missed the side lettering....
I don't know yet what to think of the spoiler. One part of me sais it looks tooo much, the other part likes it.

Last but not least the Zakspeed Ring Taxi....
Clearly a car to be driven! (Look at the way they placed the plate on the front, just bolt on). It's a GTS modified with some GTS/R parts.

There was a lot, an awfull lot of tuning at the fair.
But I had a lot of fun.

I even had a short chat with Alan McNish at the Audi stand.
