Solid engine and trans mounts. Engine mounts are a solid chunk of aluminum with one single 1/2" grade 8 bolt with grade 8 nylock nut to hold it in. Bolt inserts from top. Way simpler and reliable over the double bolt used for stock bushings. Trans mount is 3/16" wall rect. tubing. Trans mount bolt has been upgraded to 1/2" grade 8 and grade 8 nylock nut also. The trans member hole will need to be enlarged slightly to fit.
Vibration has been the main concern on these. Well outcome was a surprise to even me. There is actually less vibration!! I did the door open and let idle test to see if the door wiggled up and down like with stock bushings. It was actually rock steady. Felt nothing through the seat. Only noticeable change was feeling it a little through the floor pan on my feet. Exhaust noise may have picked up a little, but, i had a solid wall right behind me that may have been reflecting noise back forward. Throttle response though has been a very noticeable difference. I put in the poly bushings at the same time, so it literally is reacting like a different car.
Only theory i have on the less vibration is that being the engine is effectively part of the frame now, it is creating a larger mass for the engine to try and vibrate. Instead of having to hold a bouncing engine (superball effect of rubber or poly mounts), the only thing moving now is just engine internals.
If you are having problems with worn out or broken mounts. Or, engine movement is making your headers hit the frame or helping turbo plumbing loosen or pop off, these will keep your engine in one place!

You are going to have block issues, that is why Dodge and Woodhouse went with a special durometer Urethane to prevent it and still stiffen things up. But that's just my opinion of course.

Those will be fine if you race the quarter mile but you will crack the mounting tabs on the block when street driving, Beware...

have accounts from people with 10k and 30k miles with their own hand made solid mounts. raced, and street driven. zero problems. i have also run solid mounts on every performance car i have owned, never a problem. have built solid mounts for other chassis, never a single problem. searching internet, have never heard of one single problem using solid mounts.
solid mounts used in many forms of auto racing. if you break an engine tab off, you either wrecked or had a casting flaw to start.

not trying to compete with the poly mounts. this is just another option.

OK... just relaying SRT findings, (distorted cylinder possibility), people are free to do whatever they want.


have accounts from people with 10k and 30k miles with their own hand made solid mounts. raced, and street driven. zero problems. i have also run solid mounts on every performance car i have owned, never a problem. have built solid mounts for other chassis, never a single problem. searching internet, have never heard of one single problem using solid mounts.

i did look at that. mount is inline with block deck (strongest part of block) and below that is water passage, thus having no contact with cylinder. someone posted on other site they had 30k miles on tt set up with solid mounts, and removed engine. no uneven or weird ring wear was evident.

since my last post i have been scouring net looking for any single experience with solid mount mishaps or problems. i'm still looking :)

in the first link, the op is actually one of the members that reported a week ago he has not had any problems :) the modeling of where the stresses occur is nice to see ofcourse, but modeling without knowing or going to failure limits is really inconclusive.

second link i find zero conclusive evidence of any problems that HAVE happened. everything you come across i have found online has been many opinions. still searching for conclusive evidence of solid mounts creating failure to block or frame. only thing remotely close has been off road racing forums where they experience huge frame loads and twist.

I think without any real field testing it will be hard for folks to change. The original mounts are flawed and the Woodhouse Performance ones have proven themselves with lots of testing. We are all open to new products that enhance our beasts, just want to make sure that any product is worth the extra effort.

i understand completely! it is not my intent or want to compete with any of the poly mounts out there. if it was, i could make poly ones also. this is just another option that is not currently available in this form.

i know this is a site of alot of intelligent and experienced car guys. luckily, over and above alot of other sites. i do enjoy these types of discussions to hopefully help make people make a descision that works best for them!
