Does anyone own/use or have experience using the GTECH PRO unit in their car to measure performance? Seems like a handy and not too expensive device without having to pay for a dyno, etc. Wondering if it's half decent and lives up to its claim.

yes, and I have run tham at the track vs the clock, the MOST i have ever seen it off was 2/10 but i wouls say 90%+ of the time is was 1/10 or less...

the MPH on the G-Tec was 2+mph off every time (always high)

It's a fun toy 0-60 is the best setting to play with. On mine the 1/4 mile is .2 fast and 9 MPH high compared to what it really was. The HP rating is not accurate it was about 100 HP low.

Saw new Gtech unit at SEMA and it makes the old one look like a stopwatch and a tablet.

Makes the Vericom look like a TRS-80.

For one, it's display is a GUI!!!!

Remember, the last 66 ft of the strip is where they get your average speed. The Gtech gets your speed at the end of the 1/4.

Try this link G-Tech Pro . Also, I think the 'old' unit Tom was talking about was the G-Tech unit. The newer one they called the G-Tech Pro. Unless they have a brand new one that just came out that I don't know about. If they did, I am sure info about it would be on their website.

I have a GTech Pro, but the one Tom mentioned sounds like a completely new one, especially if it has a GUI. I remember someone else mentioning on this board that they were working on a much more comprehensive unit, but I still haven't found any info on it.

I saw the unit at SEMA and it isn't on the GTech web site.

They have 3 modes:

1) Drag
2) Business Use Vehicle Logging for IRS
3) Map/Directions

2+3 are available in a combined unit.

The display is a graphical LCD with a display of about 2 x 3 inches.

It is thin - not too much bigger than the display

I think I saw the new unit Tom was talking about in a magazine recently, but I don't think it is for the same purpose as the G-tech pro. The new one talked about being able to save miles driven in the unit for tax writeoffs and stuff like that. It didn't seem like it was for performance purposes.

PlatinumViper8, maybe you got a rich cousin or something that can get you a G-tech Pro.
