Yeah! Silver SRT\'s are rolling at CAAP..

Happy Holidays fellow Viper nuts;

My Silver SRT is changing status codes daily now, maybe even finished? It has sure been a long wait to see it move. No delivery date yet.

Hopefully, SRT's will start shipping soon. Officers and fellow site posters have been estimating early January and that makes a lot of sense (and saves Cents in tax).

Most importantly, Silvers are being built now!

Happy Holidays!

Jim

P.S. I wish Santa had an enclosed trailer and keys to the plant...

Last silver should be built next week. Total production is approaching first 300 (red, black, silver). Switch back to red may happen next week too. Next batch has moved to D-1 status , but no build dates assigned. The plant will shut down from 12/20 to 1/2/03. First shipments will roll soon !

Since nobody knows or tells how VIN relates to build sequence, maybe this is how it is decided:

1. Someone in the know announced on this site that there will be 300 Silvers for 03. That means 1 out of 5 cars will be silver (300 x 5 = 1500).

2. Dodge is building the first 300 based on 100 each color.

3. Assuming random and fairly even distribution of colors within the 1500 VINs, out of the first 500 VINs, 100 will be Silver. That means that Dodge must go through the first 500 VINs to make 100 Silvers. That also means that the remaining 200 Reds and Blacks will be in the next build sequence, being preceded by the 100 Silvers.

SO, if the above has any basis in fact, those Silver folks with VINs less than 500 may get their car in the first build sequence.

Does that make sense?

Heck, I quit trying to figure out the magical Viper production and shipping lotto YEARS ago! Frank, that's an interesting theory..... but surely you're missing something like dividing by the square root of some number and then dividing by PI!

However, it DOES work for MY silver car, with a VIN under your magic 500 number. Mine is on the line right now.... it was "G" on Friday, which is "Trim".... putting it in the last stages of assembly. Hopefully, it will coast through inspection with no major problems and be ready to go before they knock off for the Holidays. I was hoping to be able to take a CAAP delivery in mid January, rather than having it shipped, so that could be a possibility now!

Hey, one way or the other, ya gotta admit things are starting to get exciting again!

Re: Yeah! Silver SRT\'s are rolling at CAAP..

Hello again:

I am trying to imagine CAAP pregnant with all of these new Vipers ready to ship. Wow, it has been a long wait! I hope that they start shipping before Christmas holiday if whatever the plant has been holding for is complete.

I am curious as to whether anyone could enlighten me as to the size of a trailer that holds the SRT and an approximate cost with safety goodies added? I would love to do a plant pick-up, but weather is always unpredictable in the midwest. I really don't know what "to look for" in a trailer, and would appreciate any suggestions. I don't want something cheap; I do however want something with quality and safety/convenient to use.

Also; any thoughts on quality garage lifts? Which is the most easy to use often, regardless of price? I don't relish a total ritual in order to quickly use the lift. Something quick, reliable, safe, and well made?

Thanks,

Jim

The new Viper should fit in most full width trailers over 16' long. There is a huge variety to choose from, and prices can start as low as $4,000.00 and run up to $20,000.00 for an enclosed trailer. I have a 20' Featherlite trailer, and I am quite happy with it's construction & overall quality. I did add aluminum ramps to the door to allow the car to roll on w/o hitting the spoiler. The drawback to a Featherlite is that the wheel wells are quite high so I have to climb out over the doors. I got mine from Kuehn Motor Co in Austin, MN. If you want to ask them questions I worked with Mark Dulitz @ (800)657-3208. Another alternative if you don't need aluminum & want a door over the wheels so you can ust open the door & get out, is Alexanders trailers in central Illinois, I think it's bloomington. These are Haulmark trailers & are among the least expensive trailers that are out there. If you want to go used, There are sometimes trailers that show up on the VCA classified section, & the SCCA magazine has numerous adds for them.

Good Luck! Rick
