Yep, that is exactly what Webster's definition is. Laughing with each other is fun. Laughing at someone is only fun for the party laughing. I see a lot of "laughing at" happening there. That means someone is the target. Maybe the gifts are intended to keep the "targets" coming back for more so you have people to have fun with in the smack fests.

Sooo sorry I can only be an enthusiast at this stage. I'm in a young state of life, like you never were, I guess. I assume you were born at your age and with your set income so you could get the Viper whenever you wanted. I'm so sorry I couldn't have been born some X amount of years ago and be your age, work hard to get my money, and buy a Viper. But it's ok, I'll take the blame for not being born earlier than what I was. So who's the idiot? Considering that I'm a very young man and haven't had the chance to establish a career, let alone complete college, and you're blaming me for this? All because I don't have the financial status most 19 year olds don't anyway? Please, don't forget I'm 19. Most 19 year olds can't afford Vipers, let alone their nice cars if their family had not handed the cars to them (just basing off the towns I've lived in). Because if you don't consider this, it'll make you seem like you fit the "idiot" remark, but it seems you've already done that.

P.S.- I never said I get benefits here like donations. But I do get to converse with respectful VCA members here and I do consider that a benefit (not knocking alley).

WOW! Hey SRT, what up with all the anger? I play in both parks and, like many others have stated, they each have their own good n bad. "Defamation, slander and vulgarity" is really YOUR issue. It's all in how YOU accept the attitude. Well, it does get a bit ****** at times, but there are many of us that don't use vulgarity (at least not on a regular basis) and somehow we survive over there. It's actually funny how threatened you obviously feel...and, you'll have to trust me here, with the sole exception of the "bad milk" which came to be known as the "curdled tot incident" (well...I guess there was the time we replaced a box of attends with edible *******) you are safe! Don't be threatened that others are having fun...really, it's ok!

Since I assume you don't visit (ouuu, the horror if it all), I should inform you that you don't need to visit the "anything goes" area. There are Viper discussion areas, and Vendor review areas and tons of storage for personal media and free home pages and free email....OH yes, and the free gifts are given only to those that are slandered. Just ask Chuck. If we didn't hand him that floor jack his days of mental health were numbered.

Relax...and you might just find fun to be...well, fun! And btw, I'm not soliciting your visit to "ViperIniquity" ...I'm just trying to soften things up in your colon.

the viper comment was not to bring you down at all!! it was simply to let you realize why you are not turned on by the gift! you preach sarcasm...you can dish it, but not take it? you have nothing to put the heads on, and therefore get suspicious, and think it is all a "carrot." i never said it was your fault you didnt have a viper . you can sit there and blame this on your parents, point the finger at me, call me an idiot. you need to realize some things before you get critical. i am 20, so throw your excuse out the window

Actually the bad feelings started when the alley group, or shall we say those that really got it going, were the same ones that pummeled the SRT section here with the basic intent to state as boldly as they possibly could that anyone who would want an SRT was stupid, blind, and lots of other unmentionables. They are still at it over there and I do not care to hear their negativity on a thread by thread basis. For those that share their anti-SRT feelings it probably just went over your heads or you did not tune into the SRT forum to witness it. So bygones ... Naw, I have no desire to join in the anti forum.

And I couldn't agree with you more - on all but that last part. For the most part the SRT continues to get ridiculed over there and so be it. However I don't think that anyone there would argue that the Alley is as focused on the Viper itself as .org. Case in point: Here you have 17,930 Viper-related threads (RT/GTS/SRT & General) and "only" 7,285 "off topic" posts. Clearly this site is focused on Vipers and the discussion of same. And that is a good thing, as people will continue to come here for that purpose if nothing else. If you want to talk Vipers or get information about Vipers, there is simply no better site on the Net - and I am sure that most at Viper Alley would agree.

HOWEVER, because of that intense focus and general "softening" of the non-Viper posts (moderated), many felt that there should be a place for Viper owners to hang out and talk about anything without a muzzle. At Viper Alley they have 780 Viper threads and 6,561 "off topic". Of course you happen to have a few "rabid dogs" that come with the mix, but for the most part these are just other Viper owners that want to talk about anything and everything in a candid way. Just like a typical Viper meeting in person (any VOI), the discussion will move from Vipers to just about anything else. And those discussions are often a bit "rowdy" as that is the nature of many, many Viper owners. This is especially true as the Viper becomes more affordable to the masses: Whereas the Viper has been largely confined to older and wealthier white collar types in the past, now you are going to get a younger demographic as well as more of a "blue collar" owner. It is just the nature of the beast.

With that comes a different set of values. "Smack" talk is becoming the norm in many social circles when you are among good friends. I think this also comes from many of these same owners tracking their cars. At the track, it is customary for drivers to insult each other as often as possible - and almost always in good fun. Indeed, the very first cases of smack talk I can remember here were PMUM and Adelberg (hope I spelled that right) digging on each other about track events. It was a riot if you knew they were friends - and almost scary if you didn't. Many of their posts were pulled here, even though they were just having fun. It discouraged both from posting much after that, which is a shame because both have a LOT to offer when it comes to Vipers (and many other topics). And with their departure went many others. Sure, there were a few bad apples whose desire was (and is) to create chaos, but the majority are just a bunch of guys (and gals) that want to kid around without fear of censorship.

Bottom line: There is a place for both boards and I suspect that both will continue to flourish independently. This board will continue to be the best source for technical information as that is why many visit here in the first place. Viper Alley will continue to draw people that want to just shoot the crap about everything else. This board will still have an active "off topic" area for discussing "lighter" subjects. Viper Alley will explore the "darker" ones a bit more and be a bit more pointed in return. If I want to talk Vipers (and I do) I stay here. If I want to talk about other stuff (or just "eavesdrop" on others) I go over there. It can be pretty funny at times and is NEVER dull. Most importantly, both sites are made up of Viper owners and Viper admirers. Those are the type of people I want to surround myself with, whether they cuss like a sailor or not. It is called the real world.


Oh, and I don't bring up the SRT much over there. Cause then I know I will get some crap and be forced to mention SeriousEric's recent dyno results...
