Can anyone post a photo and comment on adding a rollbar. An interferrence or visibility issues? Just beginning to acquire facts and data in anticipation of purchasing a new 2004 SRT-10.

Thanks!

I know there are a couple guys here that have done the Autoform roll bar. Heck, Autoform may be the only one doing them right now. I believe it comes with an interior "kit" so that you don't have to mangle your factory interior. A HUGE plus in my humble opinion. I am told it can cut down a little on your rear visibilty, but nothing major. If only I had the bucks...

Rear visibility is essentially nothing to begin with, so there isn't much the roll bar can do to affect things.

The Autoform rollbar does indeed come with a new panel so you can keep your old stuff and replace back stock if you want.
You do modify the mounting location (SLIGHTLY and with included parts) of the small speakers on the top of the panel.
Visibility is obscured by the horizontal bar that is exactly in the center of your rear view (Center) mirror.
However, it doesn't seem to be any different than the wing, if you mount it too. (either one will reduce visibility).
I'm not sure how to post a photo.
You quickly learn to use the sign mirrors in addition to the interior one to search for red/blue lights behind you.
Rest assured however, that it does not affect you hearing, and after enough time you will recognize that 'wail' behind you.

Here is my AF rollbar in my garage. I hope to get it in after the new year. My 1 1/2 year old daughter is getting her helmet on getting ready for a ride. The AF rollbar comes packed in the box you see. Everything arrived in great shape. The directions lack quite a bit of details. We will see how I do. The black panel on the right is the replacement for the stock panel between the seats. You have to remove the rear tires, seats and back panel. Cut two small holes and bolt in the bar, install new panel and seats. The crossbar between the hoops will reduce your visiblity to half in the rear view mirror. I will post pics of the process as I get into it.

Joe, I have the Autoform RB in my car. I think mine was the second one they installed. I was the first crazy fool to take their new SRT-10 to Viper Days( we will do 5 next season). I am having them install a racing seat next month so I can get myself a little lower in the car. Currently my head is about 2-3" above the bar(I am 5'-8") and I want to be lower. That will also effect the cross bar location in the mirror. I am also planning on doing something with either an additional mirror or relocating the factory mirror. Currently the cross bar is in the middle of the rear view mirror, but I understand they have moved the bar as far down as they can on their current bars, which would be about an 1" lower than mine is. It looks great as you can see from the picture to the left. You can see other pictures of my car on a previous post titled "Awesome Looking SRT" or something like that. If you want other pictures send me a private email with an address and I will send you some other pictures. Steve

I spoke to Dan Cragin at the ViperClub Christmas party.
He said he is working on a SRT roll bar, and should have something shortly. Might be worth a phone call to DC Performance. (site sponsor).
Goal is to get as much protection as possible while still maintaining the convertable top operation.

I wonder why they don't just move the horizontal bar up so that it's tangent to the hoops? I can think of no reason not to do so, and rear visibility is plenty of reason FOR doing it.

The reason they can't put the cross bar at the top of the hoops is simple. The top won't go up and down. Mine is about 1" above the rear header panel and the latch still hits slightly went you put the top up and down. Beleive me I want the cross bar up there also but it plain and simple fact is it won't work. I will email my pictures today so above can post them. Thanks for your help. Steve

That's one good reason!
