I just finished putting on Lee Dove's front license plate bracket and it is slick!!!!! It took 15 minutes and looks GREAT. The bracket is high quality and heavy duty. If you live in a state that requires it, order one from him because he really did a nice job with the location of the plate. Heck, I almost like it better with the front plate on! I will post a picture if someone can help me do it. You guys need to take a look!

Glad you like it

Were the instructions adequate?
What did you use to remove your push pins?

I also like mine with the front plate and the way I designed it so it requires no drilling just simple bolt on is way cool......
Looks good and Beats paying $70 plus tickets for no front plate.

Thanks again.....Lee

Getting the push pins out wasn't to bad. I just cut the tips off and pushed them out. That way I didn't have to pry them out against the paint. The instuctions were great and thanks for including the self tapping bolts.

Is there an easier way to get the push pins out without cutting them. Any special tool? I am going to remove the front facia and paint it so any help would be great.

Fugly!Question to officer and judge.Where would you mount it?(I carry it with)Would you drill holes in the front of this car and block off the radiator and oil cooler? It wasn't designed to have one.So all I can do is pay the fine when you write the ticket.Helps that my hair is gray-white.So then you pay the ticket. No big deal. Not a point violation.Just one of the added costs of driving the Viper.BTW those idiots at state farm give me a family senior citizen discount and I'm 53.Would they every ship themselfs if they saw me driving sideways, smoking tires and of course never exceeding the speed limit by more than 2x. I tried to buy this bracket, but they are no longer offering it. Does anyone else have a solution that doesn't require drilling the facia? They are getting pretty picky in Texas about having a front license plate.

I have one on my car, real easy to make. I cant believe Lee isn't making them any more. Your right Texas is getting bad about plates.

Not trying to hijack your post VIPER 1996. I just moved to Milan, OH and purchased my 96 GTS week end after Christmas. Plates came Monday, should I or should I not mount the front plate? Dealer said "I think this is the one car we can get away without it". Any suggestions? Thanks

That bracket is much nicer than the standard Dodge bracket.
Much better location....a little too late for me though.
I almost cried when drilling through the fascia to put the standard bracket on.
Almost decided not to put one on but now I don't want to give the cops any reason to be pulling me over. I had way too much of that in years past.

Pat:

Ohio law does not require a plate if there is no factory mounting for such. Mount the bracket and you are doomed to putting the plate on.

Go to your local dodge dealer (parts Dept.) and have them right up a back-order slip. If you are stopped show the cop your back-order slip, usually works.

I was scanning the threads today and about fell off my chair when I looked and saw this post is still around.LOL I posted this back in 2002.

Why isn't Lee making the bracket anymore??

If Lee doesn't mind I can take some pics of mine because I haven't mounted it on my 96 yet. When I pulled it off my 94 there wasn't one mark on the car. You couldn't tell I had ever had a front plate on.

As far as restricting air for cooling I never noticed a difference with it or with out it??

Yes, pictures would be great. If you can post measurements also, that would help. I love his design and want one, but he's not making them any more. If anyone has one for sale, I'll buy it.

Hello Brett, Glad to hear all is well. Yes, I ended up selling my car. Caught the Drag Racing bug again and just had to have a ProMod Car. It runs 4.40's in the 1/8 and 6.70's in the qtr. I just couldn't bring myself to cut up the Viper to make it do that ;) Anyway, I'll get bored with it in a year or so and get another Viper.

Hey Lee, didn't know you were that into Drag Racing. I race my Cuda with a 416 stroker once in a while. There's nothing like it!!

6.70's in the quarter is flat gettin it! Good luck and be as safe as you can be in that missle.

B.C. VCA makes a hard-rubber "Double wishbone" bracket for Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3. All different. The wishbones have barbs on the ends, and it just slides/snaps into place over your crosshairs. Even fits wide Euro Plates.

Buy from BC VCA or PartsRack for $49. Thanks. Install is 10 seconds, once you have the plate screwed to the rubbery wishbones with the included 4 screws. Comes off in 10 sec.

Leave it in your trunk or hatch. When A Cop stops you, then say: "OOOPS! I left it in back when we went thru the carwash. Thanks, Officer, I'LL snap it back on RIGHT NOW!"
