Re: Ran my buddy Dave\'s 2001 RT/10

By the way, I (as well as many others on this forum) have owned a Z06. I now own a 1998 rt/10 because it does Everything better. Well my '02 Z06 got better fuel economy though...but I really couldn't care less.

About the weight distribution, I believe the Z06 is 51 front/49 rear...and a 98 RT is 48 front/ 52 rear (which is actually better, since all of the power is going to the rear wheels).

You can call me a troll if you want, but honestly I'm not here to piss you all off. I like Vipers a bunch and am interested in what's goin on with them.

I'm not jealous as I could have gotten a Viper had I wanted to, I chose the Corvette b/c it fits me... literally

Cobra4B,

You say you like Vipers and so on, but every one of your posts is slaming a viper in one form or another. Which leads most of us to belive that you are a troll.

I personaly dont care who you raced or who you beat, or what YOU think is the better performing car.

Facts are facts, Vipers accelerate better, handle better, and look far better. Now having said that, if I ever needed to buy a car to drive to work on a daily basis it would be a zo6, because I really do feel its a great car for the money.

So said Cobra4B

The only thing a Viper doesn better stock v. stock is accelerate =). 1/4 mile comes down to driving abilities and where is it ever shown that a GEN II Viper will out corner, slalom, or brake (GEN III braking Yes) a Z06?

It clearly shows the VIPER owns the C5 right here...www.OTChallenge.com

Check out the Overall Standing, Division Standings, or the Class Standings, the Vette girls aren't even close...Next question???

What's the weight distribution on a stock Viper (John wanna pipe up w/ some facts for me?)? A Z06 is 51/49 as the motor sits completely behind the front axles and the tranaxle is in the rear. The C5 chassis is one of the stiffest in the industry (esp the Z06) w/ it's two hydroformed side-rails and "roll" bar/ roof hoop thing. Anyone have hard data on torsional rigidity? Someone said to jack up my car from behind the front wheel... I've dont that changing front brake rotors and YES the whole side of the car comes off the ground.

I really don't care if you agree with me I was just relating my story of racing my buddy.

Oh yeah and some of you all keep making the production numbers, cost, better drivabilty arguments.... maybe that's important to you to get attention so then good, you have the right car for getting laid =)
When are you going to leave troll boy? Again we don't care what your oil-burning/mass-produced/under- powered/girly car can do. As long as you have a Vette you will continue to be 2nd class. Do yourself a favor get a part-time job at McDonalds then oneday you will be able to afford a Viper. Until then bu-bye... :shocked:

Notice after all of his posts, he goes back to the Corvette Forum bragging about how he "stirred things up" over here.

A Vette is more like a Hyundai Tiburon than a Viper.
But that's OK, both have their place in the automotive society.
I liked my C5 fine, for what it was.

LOL, I understand. It's like when a V6 Mustang owner starts going over to the Corvette forums how his car would walk a Z06, has a stiffer frame etc...It's so stupid it's almost funny.

Where is it shown? Ok, here:

*0-60mph=> 3.89sec.
*0-100mph=> 8.7sec.
*1/4 mile=> 11.7sec.
*1/4 mile speed=> 121mph
*1 mile=> 30.1sec.
*1 mile speed=> 173.3mph(that's the Z06's top speed)
*Top speed=> 192.6mph
*Lateral acceleration=> 1.02g
*Speed through 600-ft slalom=> 73.6mph(That's the second fastest ever Motor Trend Mag. slalom run by any automobile, surpassing a horde of modified cars, many of which were fitted with super-sticky race rubber. The Mosler MT900 Photon, which is not street legal, holds the record with a 74.7mph run. BTW, that car had sticky rubber)
*0-100-0mph=> 13.5 sec.(w/o ABS, don't know the ABS-equipped Vipers number)
*60-0mph braking=> 117ft(best stopping distance I've seen for a non-ABS-equipped Viper, and again don't know the ABS-equipped Vipers number)

Now, each individual number represents the best PUBLISHED performance test for a STOCK GEN 2 Viper in that particular category. Like PRVT JET said, All that performance without computers doing the driving for you.

YouWish, The comments that come out of your mouth really make you a piece of [******]. Even your screename shows the personality you have. You should feel very good when you sleep at night becuase you're so much better than everyone esle who doesn't want a Viper or can't afford a Viper.

You ever race that car of yours? Or did you buy it to be seen?

Cobra4B,

It doesn't matter the exact reasons why people bought their vipers. You are way out of line with your rude comments to YouWish.

From what I've noticed, all you do is come here to make trouble. Maybe it was cute at first, but it gets old really quick. Why don't you spend some more time on a general sports car talk site? I'm sure you'd be welcomed there more.

I'll take a track day anytime. Then you have acceleration, braking, and handling. I'll bring green if you like. You can bring both cars. Best out of 4 sessions if you like or pick just one. Pocono long course should let you stretch those legs to 165 or more before you hit the brakes. These are sports cars right? I think your motors are way bigger too? They are all very cool cars and I congradulate you :2tu:

Did any of you guys ever stop to think that maybe he's proud about running side by side for a while with a Gen 2 Viper? I've read his original post several times and no where did I see him trying to start trouble. So he's proud of his Z06, why would that bother anyone here? As far as I could tell, you guys jumped down his throat because he raced a Viper and didn't lose. Everyone with any kind of automobile knowledge knows the Gen 2 Vipers are a bit quicker than the Z06. I don't think he's trying to prove anything to anyone here. You know your Gen 2's are quicker. If you don't appreciate his posts, don't respond to them and they'll quickly go to the next page. As a previous Viper owner, I never understood the animosity you guys have toward Corvettes. I'm sure there are some here that appreciate the Corvette as a great all around sports car. Isn't there? At least one or two? :confused: :D

If you would have done your homework you would have known Cobra is a troll. We all appreciate Vettes around here. They no doubt have there place in automotive hissstory behind the Viper. :D

Nat,

The guy is a Troll, no question.

And saying that a Gen 2 viper is a bit quicker than a zo6 is like saying a zo6 is a bit quicker than a cobra mustang(STOCK). 1/2 second in qtr mile, not to mention beyond that is no way even in the same league.

I didn't come on here to troll. The post last year about my test drive in the RT/10 was a legit post, but they got super pissed as did I.

This post was really for some of the local guys like Bugeater and Vipermad that I've met, not to piss on every Viper owner who's insecure without their car... you can tell which guys these are.

this case is closed, cobra checked with his friends at the zo6 forum and they told him that the viper has a stiffer frame and it is balanced better for the track.

Why not meet him at the dragstrip? Their is more to racing than just going around curves! Your car would be under powered at the strip compared to adams. Your just hoping to even the odds by using your driving experience. You had better be a much better driver because once he comes out of the turns he will blister you in the straights.

Exactly! They are and Vipers do it better. The post was originally about a race from a roll. So line it up with Adam and see what happens.
