I went to track and was heart broken over times ran. I lowered rear tire pressure to 25 lbs and launched @ 3000 rpm (big mistake). my first run was against a z06 and I was sideways watching the vette pull away but when I hooked up I was closing in. I ran a 12.84 @ 114.85 and the vette ran 12.69 @ 113.45 I never saw the vette again I think he ran to tell his friends he beat a viper. My best time was 12.074 @ 122.09 .109 react time with 60' time of 2.149 What can I do to go faster? I was thinking of M/T ET WITH 16" RIMS. I was expecting car to be in 11s with stock tires.
Thanks

Just be patient and learn to drive the car.

It takes severla trips to the track and you will figure it all out.

Practice Practice Practice!

Roof hit it on the head! Learn how to drive the car!

What tires did you have on? Lots of variables, was the track prepped? Launch at 3000rpm on stock tires!? WOW!

Don't worry about the ZO6! He's SLOW and there's not much he can do about it!! You will improve in massive amounts with practice!!

Yeah 3000 RPM with a Roe blower on stock tires is a recipe for spinning badly
Practice is the key! :)

Try leaving closer to 1500RPM and feed in the clutch.

Plus you might try short shifting into 2nd at around 4500RPM, or you will probably spin badly there too.

Also 122MPH sounds a bit slow of a trap speed with a blower.

Are you sure that you are keeping on the gas until you see the 1/4 mile lights? Have you dynoed the car?

My 1st run at the track with the Viper was a lousy 13.0@110MPH hitting the rev limiter in 2nd and missing 3rd (losing to a Mercedes sedan).

But getting a feeling for the best launch and optimal shift points is what takes some time and practice. And the effort will reward you.

Your 60' time is what mostly sets the stage for a better ET. When you start launching better, your ET will drop below 2 seconds and 11s will be relatively easy. :2tu:

E/T streets will make a huge difference in traction, but unless you have a rollbar (for track safety compliance) and HD halfshafts (so you don't break the stock halfshafts with that power combined with better traction), you should rethink running slicks, especially before getting your launch technique down first.

my first run ever at the track was a 12.4 @ 117mph. after a few practice runs got the car to hit 11.93 @ 119MPH with just headers, cats and cat back. just got roller rockers and VEC1 so hoping for 11.5's tomorrow on BF tires. it all in the 60ft and the way you launch it. the rest of it is a peace of cake. good luck and c u soon

..ran to tell them he beat a supercharged Viper you mean. If you're not experienced at the strip, worry less about your reaction time and concentrate on our start/60' time. A slow reaction time might cost you the race, but it won't make your ET slower.
