SRT-\"Carbon\".... I WAN\'T ONE, but I\'ve got questions for you..

Hello;

I have some questions about the SRT-Carbon:

1. Is the folding convertable top still there? (Is the "Hard-Top" removeable?).

2. Are those "team-tech" seats (I think I ccould make out that brand from the pic's) with 5/6 point belts already installed?

3. Has the "heat insulation" been improved? (I know it's got a new hood with different venting and no NACA Duct- but will that help cabin heat?).

4. What exhaust system is being used? Corsa "Track-Exhaust" I hope? (getting rid of the "H-Crossover" really helped my SRT alot when I installed this Corsa Track-Exhaust.)

5. Will there be an "Option" to keep the A/C and Radio/CD system?

6. Is there a "Roll-Bar" under that hard-top? (Hopefully, the "Carbon" will have a removeable hard-top, roll-bar installed, and the original folding top like the SRT. This would be the best of all worlds to me.)

7. Price: I would guess in the 100K plus range. No more than 110K would be my guess.

Please respond with your answers if you have any. Since PVO (now SRT) decided to put the SRT Carbon on the front cover of the "Viper Quarterly" there surely MUST be some ready answers that can be shared! It seems obvious to me that this will be introduced a VOI this September! Otherwise, why feature it on the cover of OUR club mag?

I WANT ONE! I just really want to know about whether the SRT-Carbon will still have the folding top for me to use!

Thanks,

Jim  :usa:

Hello?

No one want's one or has comments or questions?

If you like the SRT, I would think you would be pretty excited about a "super" SRT? 600 (plus) horsepower, factory warranty? WOW!

I know I am!

Re: SRT-

yep, I want one of these SRT 10 carbon vipers also. DC you must build this car to stay ahead of fomoco and gm not to mention blow off all the factory euro's except maybe the Enzo and the Mclaren f1. Bring it on and we will buy it!

Re: SRT-

For the extra $20K 20 $25K that this is supposedly going to cost, you can neary super/turbo charge the car and have way, way more thean 650 bHP. How about 1,000 bHP that will run circles around that car, carbon fiber or not?

West Coast Viper has a 650 package for the Gen 2's that is about $15K -- I am guessing something similar is there for the SRT-10 for an all motor 650 bhp car.

Re: SRT-

I agree. I don't get the excitement of extra power alone since it is so easy to achieve with the aftermarket. A 625 hp SRT-10 is not enough.

A lighter, better looking car sounds good though. And a warranty sounds really good.

Re: SRT-

This car is a great deal at $105K as suggested on Ferrarichat. That induction steup alone is probable worth at least $10K. The car has an uprated suspension among other things and the total individual cost of the add-ons and changes have to be worth well more than $20K individually. As much as I love my GTS, I can not afford two vipers at this point. If it comes out, I'll have to think about 'upgrading' to the SRT-10 if enough are made and there is no bidding war jacking the price like the Ford GT. If it only weighs 3100lbs with 625hp, it cracks the 400hp/ton.

Question, does the roof come off? And if it does, is there a soft top underneath?

Re: SRT-

I would be interested in one if it came in Red with the Carbon Fiber parts not painted.

I would LOVE a street version that is trackable without restrictions - needs a roll bar and the ability to add or comes with 5 or 6 points. With a top speed of 200+, street version, trackable, removable hardtop all would be great!

I doubt it comes with the convertable folding top, they are looking for ways to reduce weight, so I'm sure that's gone.

I still would love the looks of a GTS SRT version, the Carbon does not accomplish this, the "bolt on" hardtop looks like a bolt on hardtop, it does not look anything like a GTS version of the SRT like the photo shop versions do. The Carbon looks like an SRT with a bolt on hard top. I saw the one at SIMA, and was not impressed with the looks. The engine and hood were VERY impressive. Now if they added that to a GTS version of the SRT with added styling, that would be a "perfect" Viper to me.

Re: SRT-

I agree with the rest of you in terms of additional power, and I would gladly pay a little more, but why in the world would PVO (oops SRT) go with such an UGLY-ASS coupe design when they already have a winner in the CC? As many folks on this board have opined already, build the darn coupe with SEMA 600+ HP engine and CC styling! :headbang: Then, and if only then, I will be more than happy to send DC my hard-earned cash! :2tu:

Re: SRT-

At the SEMA show the Carbon was listed as the ACR Viper, and local comments of the guys in charge said that they would be using the show car to gauge audience response to the parts shown and the best ones would potentially make it into production.

I do agree that (as usual) aftermarket tuners can easily produce a more powerful Viper for less money, but that's not the point.

Modded cars are always (wisely) judged separately from factory production cars. 3200Lbs with 625HP could provide the SRT-10 Viper the power-to-weight ratio to be quicker than the Ford GT, and perhaps close to the $400K Saleen S7 and $450K Porsche Carrera GT.

It's clear with the 3100lb/500HP+ C6 Z06 Corvette around a year from production, that D/C needs to increase the Viper's factory stock power to maintain it's performance advantage over the Corvette. And even adding all of the Carbon's lighter body panels, engine and suspension upgrades, they should be able to build a quicker car for under $100K that would shake up the Ford GT, S7, as well as the European performance carmakers.

It has to be done. And I really hope that DC doesn't drop the ball. ;)

Re: SRT-

Superbar and BadViper;

You guys are missing the positive points of a FACTORY Super-SRT!

Don't know about you, but my money stays where the warranty is not in question. I could hop-up my Vipers in all manner of ways- but I would VOID my warranty and it would end up costing a lot more to fix. I do not live anywhere near the location of any tuners. What a pain ^% @#$ @#$%!

I am still looking for answers on whether this Carbon has a Roll-Bar, and keeps the folding soft top (I hope!). The hard-top, if removeable, would just be an extra bonus at the track.

It's your money, and you can always buy something cheaper for more HP. I'll take mine with factory engineering and warranty, thank you very much!

Now, who's got more info on the questions I posed on this beast? It's about time we had FACTORY OPTIONS! :usa:

Thanks,

Jim

Re: SRT-

Anyone think that the Carbon was just testing the interest in those PARTS, as in PVO aftermarket parts like they have for the Neons and others? They really seem to be focusing on the aftermarket and all that carbon fiber would be an MF'er to offer on a production car, just ask Corvette.

Re: SRT-

Jim,

I was at the SEMA show and the answers are 1.No roll bar and no top. 2. Stock/comp coupe exhaust....the Corsa track exhaust had not been made...remember this car was shown last fall at the SEMA show in Vegas. The rest of the "mods" to the car were "one off" original items. Bob

Re: SRT-

Thanks Doctorbob!

Those are the answers (not what I WANTED to hear..sniff, sniff) I was looking for.

Now, if SRT IS LISTENING???? PLEASE build this sucker and install a Roll-Bar and KEEP the FOLDING TOP! SOLD!!

Really, I want this to come from the factory, NOT aftermarket! Give us an option to paint the hard-top to match, please.

C'mon folks! 600-650?? factory HP. We get a real roll-bar and keep the covertible top... and it's all warranty friendly at our LOCAL Viper Authorized Dodge Dealer.

Pleease SRT, offer these basic things I just mentioned and let me place my order. Mandarine Orange Metallic please!

Let's get those requests comin' folks. If you like having a Viper convertible, want to go to the track, and crave the extra factory power, speak up please!

Thanks, (I'm just a little excited for this Carbon SRT)

Personally, I'd be very interested in the aftermarket parts if they offer them. If the Carbon car isn't a convertible, then I probably don't want it. I will wait for a true coupe, I think. However, if they decide to start selling the body panels, hood, air induction, cam, valves, heads, suspension components, etc., then I will be one of the first guys in line. I'd love to put a bit more performance in my car, and some SRT-tested goodies would fit my needs perfectly.

Re: SRT-

Yes, SRT Carbon!!

Then we have a CHOICE if we don't want to be sentenced to only having a hard-top.

Make my SRT-Carbon with a roll-bar and keep the folding top! Make the Hard-top removeable, and make it an OPTION.

Options are the only thing missing in Viperworld.
