Anyone have LowTire Warning Problem?

I got into my SRT this AM heard a beep tone and had low tire flashing indicator on dash. Tire pressures checked out so I went to my local Viper Tech who put in more pressure all the way (around 29 lbs.) and he tried to clear warning lamp several times. It was clear as I pulled away.
About 2 minutes later it lighted up again as a steady low tire light.
I got home and uped pressure to 30 lbs. (with cool tires)
Is this a sensor problem or module problem that anyone else has encountered??

I have not had that occur on our 03 (yet)...and, have not explored clearing the light...have had same thing occur on a rental car, and the company said that it would take several miles/start cycles to clear the light...of course, they could have been BS-ing me.

I had my low tire light stuck on. Salesman told me to just put air in and it should go off (not). I had to have the shop recalibrate all the wheels with a special magnetic tool. Has not come back since.

That's funny. I just bought an 04 3 days ago. As I left the dealership I noticed that my low tire light was on as well. Checked all my tire pressure and they all have 29 psi. Mine doesn't flash. It just stays on and after I start the car it gives me one chime.

Thanks Greg- good to hear from you.
They say I may need a sensor OR a control module.
It is very peculiar that the system in our SRT's doesn't indicate WHICH tire has low pressure even with the magnetic/computer inquiry.
Nor does it show which sensor is bad!!
It seems we must check each tire with a pressure gauge to find out WHERE the problem is.
Atleast we dont need a spare - but I have a long ride up to Mt. Washington this weekend and I dont want to keep checking pressures.
What does a run-flat tire look like when it is running deflated? does it pull? or make a noise as your traveling?? How far can you go? and how fast? Can you use that spray-seal junk temporarily?
**I'd REALLY appreciate it if anyone out there knows.** (Just in case)
Thanks in advance- Bob :usa:

I suspect it is a sensor. My low pressure light went on once but I had low pressure in one or more tires...aired them up and the light went off...no problems since.

A search on this very website will turn up info on your problem with the monitoring system.

This search on here gives me fits, or else I would run the search for you all.

Good luck

Only time my low pressure warning came on was when I did have a true leak due to a puncture. Was pleasantly surprised at the free replacemnt as these tires have some sort of fairly generous road hazard coeverage. (see tire warranty info and avoid a tire dealer selling you a new tire that quite possibly should be free)

I just went to the CD service manual and found some answers to my own questions.
The device or BRGIII and magnetic donuts are used to clear the sensor/transmitters in each wheel. But you have to spin the tires up to 20mph to get it to register and clear the warning.
Also I found the low pressure threshold occurs at 20 lbs leading to a flashing warning
A critical pressure threshold occurs at 12 lbs.with a steady light warning.
The Michelin Pilot Zero Pressure tires can be driven for 50 miles at up to 55 mph.
Now if I just put a piece of tape over the LO TIRE indicator on the dashboard display, I can drive some 700 miles without fear, unless they find the defective part first.

It also mutes the radio when the critical pressure threshold is indicated.

Yes, the car pulls slightly when flat. I had a flat right rear and it is very noticable from the side. Makes the 30 series tire look like a 10 series. Although, if I didn't have the dash binging and the lo tire light flashing, I probably would have just though 'something feels funny' as opposed to a regular tire.

Thanks Jerome, Jeff and Viperfreak. :2tu:
Well, I've thought it through this way, since parts probably won't be here in time.
Since the tires seem to be intact, I will take the trip even with my warning light on.
I will bring: 1)my trusty tire pressure gauge 2)a can of spray schmutz 3)a compact air compressor (carried by one of our Viper group), 4)a Viper Talk-About, 5) a canteen or thermos with a beverage yet to be determined and 5)plenty of good music. (Hey, its really the usual stuff except for the schmutz)
Am I leaving anything out?? :usa:

The "Schmutz" says on the can "do not use on Z rated tires"

Legal crap.....just don't sustain 150+ for more than 10 minutes and it should be fine.

Yes, I have this same problem with my SRT.

Call Chuck Tator at Tator Dodge, South Salem, NY (914) 763-3136. Chuck has the equipment and knows the repair process well on this.

Just got back from a GREAT,GREAT Mt. Washington trip with NO Problem!! (round trip-Northern New Hamphire >750miles) Pressure has been stable in all 4 tires. Now I hope that a TPM module and/or sensor replacement will clear that warning light. Love this NEW TECHNOLOGY and the new bugs that come with it.

My low pressure light stayed on shortly after I bought the car. Viper tech reset computer. He said he didn't know if it was a permanent fix or not. 13 months and 8500 miles later--no problems.
