I recently bought a few things from Jon B. This was my first order. He asked if I had a vanity plate and it turns out I just got one. Before hanging up, he mentioned that I might want to get a removable front license plate bracket. I though, what the hell.

Last night, I pulled out of night Court and I realized I pulled right behind an unmarked Police car. (I literally rolled out of the lot) I see him eyeing me in the rear view mirror and then he pulls to the curb at the first light. I know he is going to pull me over, but I'm thinking what did I do? When I pull over the cop say, "when you registered this car, how many plates did DMV give you?" Well, I purchased the bracket but did not even get it on the car yet. He let me off with a warning. (Cool guy) Phew.

Not having to pay the ticket or having to take the time to deal with it paid for the bracket itself.

Hey Jon, do you have anything I can stick on the car to get out of speeding tickets? :p

That bracket is a good idea for when your parked! It's not good when your moving! We have such a small grille opening as is and when that bracket is in place and at speed, you are loosing air flow through the radiator!! Why do you think the factory plate bracket mounts above the grille opening? Leave the stupid plate of the front and just pay the $55 NY ticket! :(

It actually wasn't on the car. I was definitely concerned about airflow. Also, the bracket is made of a hard rubber or polymer of some type. It actually clips onto the painted grill surface. I can't imagine it won't scratch the paint when air is rushing into it at speed. I was lucky to get out of the ticket without the plate actually on the car.

No, he would have been a cool guy if he would worry about laws that are actually worth a damn.

He wasn't as big of ass as he could have been. Sort of like a pile of sh*t not smelling as bad as it could.

I usually keep mine in the trunk unless maybe I've had a couple of cold ones and don't want to get pulled over for it. I've used it several times and have seen no rubbing or scratches from the bracket. On the highway in 85 degree heat..the temp guage stays right where it always does. If I get pulled over...I just say oops..I just washed the car and forgot to put it back on...go to the trunk and get it and hopefully he lets me go!! :2tu:

Just break the bracket and throw it in your trunk. If you get pulled over, pull it out and tell the cop "hey it just fell off!"

Good Idea. I thought about throwing it out the window at speed so it would get all scraped up, then saying it fell off.

Anyone have a picture of the factory plate bracket? Where does it mount?

rdice, do you run a front plate on your Viper... here in Columbus?

I have not registered my car from Florida to here yet, and was curious, as I have seen a lot of cars running without a front plate?

No front plate. OH law says you do need one. No way am I putting one on this car. The few other local Viper owners I know don't have one either. My front (spare) plate is tucked in the pocket behind the passenger seat. The factory bracket is still wrapped in the original plastic and sitting in my garage. Haven't been hassled about it yet (knocking on my wood desk). If/when I am, I plan to feel out the situation and deal with it accordingly at the time.

Do you actually think the cop cares about the front license plate?? It simply gives him a reason to stop the car. In most cases your attitude is what buys you a "no front plate" ticket. Law Enforcement stops cars they have a legal reason to stop..simple as that.

Regarding your "pile of sh*t" comment......if you were in my neck of the woods, I would make you my pet project. There are many cops out there that are also Viper owners, so lose the attitude - cops are your friends :p

I'm surprised that I'm the first police officer(Maryland) to make a comment on this thread. First of all, any state that gives you 2 license plates requires that you place both on the vehicle. If you do not have both plates on the vehicle, this gives law enforcement a legal right to stop your vehicle. I strongly disagree with "Chuck98 RT/10" comments. I have made numerous felony arrests(Drugs/Robbery/****) and have removed a lot of dangerous criminals from our streets because of a vehicle that did not have a front tag. Something as small as no front tag can lead to much bigger things. Now, I'm not "holier than thou". I don't have a front tag on my viper either, however, writing tickets for no front tags is not something that I normally do unless an arrest comes from the stop(Shows Probable Cause)."Trainville" is absolutely correct when he said that "ATTITUDE" has a lot to do with whether or not you get a ticket. If you have a positive attitude, usually, you won't get the ticket. There are exceptions! Some officers may be having a bad day and may take it out on you as in any profession. I'm just telling you from 15 years of experience,if you get stopped for no front tag, "HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE" and usually it will work in your favor. HAPPY MOTORING AND SEE YOU OUT THERE, PEACE!

Interesting post. I can agree with all of it but....really now, just how many "felony arrests and removal of dangerous criminals" have been the result of a "no front plate violation" involving a VIPER?

And I'm telling you unreel, from nearly 30 years of driving, attitude RARELY makes a difference these days. I got out of more tickets as an 18-year-old kid 25 years ago than I do now at 43. FACT. Screw having a good attitude, give them what they give you and make sure to get your money's worth.

As for busting felons via no front tag, how about making a law against picking your nose? Just think how many more felons you could get. Or maybe bust people for using the wrong hand to wipe their ***. Yeah, lets take freedoms away to protect the people, just think how many more dangerous criminals you could catch and put on house arrest if we had more stupid laws. Not to mention job security.

Front tag is stupid.

unreelviper. And furthermore I think your full of s***. I've been told by cops personally that ANY cop that pulls you over for no front plate is f****** with you. PERIOD! Legally a cop can pull you over and ticket you for speeding for going 40 in a 35. But the un-written rule down at the station house is that you don't do that. Same with the front plate! And the fact that you admitted to pulling someone over for it makes you an even bigger piece of s*** in my book!

How about cops be servants of the people and take your long blue line and shove it up your ***. Stop telling me what kind of Attitude to have in how you are going to treat me. Either you are a professional(look that word up if you have to), or just another *** hole that should not have any power in the first place.

God bless the men and women in the service of the people but most are not. You have power and the standard and accountability you are held to should be higher.

Here in Ohio you can be pulled over for not wearing a seat belt. That's just about as bad as nose picking, or no front license plate.

I somewhat respect the officers position/post but CitySnake's post speaks volumes.

In livipers case...that is nothing but oppression.

Seat belt laws are one of the most unconstitutional laws on the books. The Motorcycle lobby has been very successful in getting helmet laws revoked, I wish there was an anti seat belt lobby.

most cops, especially state troopers, are nothing more than egotistical revenue collectors that abuse their privileges on our dime... AND they're allowed to carry guns which makes it worse

I learned that a few years ago when I got a ticket for my windows being tinted to dark (***?!?!). Trooper says he pulled me over b/c he couldnt see me through the window?? Checked the glass with his little meter, says its too dark, pulls out a razor blade and puts a giant X through both door windows (again ***?!?!) and this was AFTER I showed him the letter from my eye doctor stating I needed to wear sunglasses or have dark tint on my vehicles due to a facial burn I received. He looks at the letter, crumples it up and throws it into the ditch?!? Later when I fight the ticket in court, my attorney asks why the trooper pulled me over in the first place since the whole "windows were too dark" excuse was kinda lame. He states that I was speeding!! (third time ***!?!) I wasnt even speeding and he makes this up on the stand!! They even bring in another trooper who verifys he was with trooper #1 that very day and states that he saw the radar and I was speeding. Says they let me go on the speeding violation but had to write me a ticket for the tint. I did a little research later and it turns out that trooper #2 was on vacation that entire week and wasnt even in the state when trooper #1 pulled me over... hmmm two liers. The judge wouldnt even listen to me explain how the trooper threw my Drs note away.... so after the $425 fine, $125 court costs, $500 for attorney fees, I figure the state of Texas owes me at least $1050 for harassment.

Window tint is another bullsh!t reason to pull someone over... just like no front plate or seatbelt... its all BS to keep those lazy, fat ******** busy.

...while the real criminals run rampant

btw I have BOTH troopers' names and home addresses... Ill get my revenge one day

Hey Guys, I understand some of the frustrations with the front tag issue. For some reason, certain states require 2 tags while other states do not.I've been stopped in my viper for no front tag and I've had to sit on the side of the road while everything was being checked. These laws are put into place by state lawmakers who feel that it's necessary( whether it's likeable or not).I know that a lot of motor vehicle laws do not make sense to many of us nor are we going to agree with them, however, we are suppose to follow them. "Chuck 98 RT/10", maybe you've been stopped by a police officer who was on a mission to write you a ticket no matter what you would "say". There are officers in this country who are set on being the high stat person for their department or they are simply having a bad day. We have a lot of motor vehicle laws in my state that I don't understand but we are suppose to abide by them. All I'm saying is that ,speaking for a lot of officers that I know, "ATTITUDE" goes a long way.Usually, if you act like an a**hole ,then you are going to buy the ticket. I feel that you have a better chance of getting out of a ticket by "HUMBLING" yourself than you do by doing what you say you should do. If you ever get stopped again, try having a positive attitude ,you might surprise yourself! PEACE!
