Macedo Car takes 1st place Super Pro Street

An update from Topeka, Vern Hill's 2001 Macedo built GTS takes first place at Topeka in the "Super Pro Street" class. Gary Soltys was driving and beat an RSI car in the 9.90 - 10.49 class with a 10.14 @ 142.52 mph for the win. The car ran very consistent despite the heat and humidity with a 10.09, 10.12 and 10.16. This was on a motor that is not yet broken in, or tested prior to Topeka. Cudaman's Macedo tuned and built RT10 ran great as well with a 2nd place in the street tire shootout and a 10.24 in the drag radial competition. Both cars were consistent and showed their durability and strength in the hot Kansas heat. Congratulations to Macedo Motorsports, Vern Hill, Ward Reasoner, and Gary Soltys. Way to go team Florida!!!!!!!!!!!! :2tu: :2tu:

Macedo's 2 car's (mine and Vern Hills) performed like clock work ....never skipped a beat, ran perfect all day long and into the evening in the Kansas heat(2 days)never broke,(both cars were tuned for sea level conditions). My hat is off to Sir Macedo, job well done! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:


I would like to thank my personal trainer.... Mr. Vern Hill, without him I might have passed out in the Kansas heat. :2tu:


I would like to thank Brian Anderson (2Many Toys)for his medicine run back to the hotel to pick my Insulin and other medicine, also for his professional trailer driving skills of helping me bring my rig 1500 miles(1 way)to the races( over 3500 miles of trailering and 1 week off of work[thanks to wife Theresa for watching our kids and my bussiness]). :2tu:

10.24 on DR's and 10.09 on a brand new combo! Excellent M2 showing.

This was my 1st experience with the V-10 Nationals. I didn't run a car but watching it was really a nice sight. Very nice people and very serious about Vipers. It was very hot but the new friends off set the scortching temperatures of Kansas. Thanks for a great show!

What were the fastest 6 speed cars ?

There had to be a number of 9 second cars...

Congrats Larry on a great showing of your Viper talent to build great engines. I can attest to Larry's ability. He tuned and helped me with my 1993 Venom 600 that was an early drag racing Viper able to hit the mid ten's and 135mph plus. He also wrenched and was my crew chief for nearly two years on my GT1 Viper GTS in the VRL. He built two GT1 engines that were always reliable and strong for this race car. Also congrats to Vern and Ward.

Just returned from Topeka a few minutes ago. This was my first drag race experience in the Viper. I couldnt go wrong in letting Gary Sholty take my totally bone stock (shifter, filters, tires, etc) out for a few runs after I could only muster a 13.024 (my very first run was 13.421). On his second run (on street tires) he managed a 12.649. Car only has 1170 miles on it. Thanks again Gary.

Special thanks to Cudaman, Dr. Roof, Joseph Dell, Gary Sholty, Macedo Motorsports, and those in the KC chapter for their driving tips, hospitality and overall kindness in helping me who is new to all this.

My fastest run after assistance from Gary on shifting to 4th without missing was something like 13.013. My best 60' came down to a 2.005 my days end. Gary has given me something to shoot for. Not sure if it was mentioned but the elevation at Topeka was 2000 feet, much more than anyone expected.

Thanks again to all, I had a blast!!!!!!

Oh, forgot to mention 2Many Toys in the previous post. His experience helped a bunch as well. It was great meeting and putting faces to the names I see about everyday. What a bunch of great guys. Thanks again Dr. Roof for a great event, its too bad there were so few cars.

No records and only high nines. Dr. Fudge with his full out race Viper with auto trans ran I think some 9.6's. Other than that RSI ran 9 sec. runs with the yellow TT and the yellow RSI stroker Nitrous.
RSI ran the top speed and that was 146 I believe.

RSI cars were strong, congrats to RSI for the 1st place in the unlimited class.

Thanks to all! David Boggs put on yet another great event and we will do everything in our power to ensure this series continues to grow. I had a few new people contact us regarding the V10 Nats and they may make the trek to his events. Thanks again, David!

The weather in Kansas was the extreme opposite of favorable for anyone that enjoys drag racing. As if the heat, humidity and head wind weren't enough, the elevation certainly was an added bonus. We ran a 10.09, 10.18, 10.14 and a 10.12 with the mph in the mid 140's.

Ward Reasoner (Cudaman) is truly THE MAN! My friend ran in (3) classes throughout the entire weekend and is a true competitior with (2) second place and (1) third place finish. If you don't know Ward persoanlly, your missing out in a big way.

Congrats to all the competitors!

Everyone out there (especially from FL) earned it. It was great to see you all run and it was inspirational to see you run so well.

And I must admit... When I saw Ward click off that 10.2 on drag radials I thought for SURE there would be a record or two broken that day. A 1.55 60 ft time... dang! But the track just got hotter and hotter and no one mentioned the 10-15 mph head wind we were contending with.

Is that a record for drag radial short times? It is damn impressive if it isn't!

I would have to say the STL Crew Clean the FL clocks with STOCK VIPERS :eek: , We had 2 1st place(street tire and dr shoot out), 1 2nd place, and 1 3rd place. All cars where built and Tuned by PBJ out of St. Louis, MO :2tu: !

Everybody has a bad day and fotunately for you both Ward was running low on insulin, which won't happen again on my watch. Congrats on your victory, sorry to hear most of you guys broke and couldn't continue.

Hey wasn't it one of the STL guys that was jerking around in the burnout box all day, delaying everyone at the lights? There is a reason they don't allow that kind of dirty pool in the NHRA or IHRA, it is dangerous for cars as fast as these Vipers to let their tires loose the burnout heat. It would be a real shame for a Viper to kiss the wall cause someone wants to win a plastic trophy. Roof schooled everyone at Bradenton to get to the line within 20 seconds of the first staging lights, we should make it a rule.

There is a reason they don't allow that kind of dirty pool in the NHRA or IHRA, it is dangerous for cars as fast as these Vipers to let their tires loose the burnout heat. It would be a real shame for a Viper to kiss the wall cause someone wants to win a plastic trophy. Roof schooled everyone at Bradenton to get to the line within 20 seconds of the first staging lights, we should make it a rule.

What are you talking about! This is the 1st I have heard of this, I personally like to hit the tree first especially on a pro-tree!

I will be in Columbus, you make sure you bring the stroker, heads, cam, blower, and propane set up! I should have a few more bolt ons and a clutch! All I can say is good luck!


PS. MY VIPER IS STOCK WITH NX AND Only RAN 5 tenths slower. I would say you car runs like sheet with all those mods or you need a better driver! :( :( 10.20 :confused:


Where all broke but seem to finsh 1st is 2 events, the 04 has a pos rear-end, and the black and red car was on a used tranny, Well all us can't afford race-prep tranny that never break!

Congratulations to the St. Louis crew !! Out of 21 possible podium finishes, they achieved six. Five of those were split between two cars. And all this in their back yard :rolleyes:

Fuelman had the cars from your club reversed..... YOUR car the red 98 GTS(not the Blue and white 97GTS) with the 200 Nitrous shoot DID handel yourself ethically and professionally at the track and the tree. So I will set the record straight.
