I find it hard to believe with VOI just a month or so away...not one leak about a new SRT Coupe! I would think if such a project were really in the works, somebody would have proof that this possibility really exists. Either this is the best kept secret EVER or maybe we're getting our hopes up over nothing. I can't imagine how dissappointed folks are going to be if this thing doesn't materialize!

Leak you say?

I've been 'inside' on a LOT of Viper stuff since 1992.......and I have NEVER seen the lid on tighter than it is now. To me, that means it is likely.
I'll be at VOI-8 with checkbook in hand, in hopes of being able to order my next Viper.

My 2002 Yellow RT/10 will even be for sale at / after VOI-8, [$49995] to help me pay for my next Viper! Come without your Viper....drive or ship mine to your home !

Remember ..... just months ago, a 12 cylinder mid engine 850 HP supercoupe concept took everyone (including many at DC) by surprise!

Let's just cross our fingers and start the chant:

coupe, Coupe, COupe, COUpe, COUPe, COUPE!

I'll bet we will see one at VOI. However, I don't think it will have the aggressive body work of the comp coupe. If it does, my GTS will go up for sale.

I already placed a bet in Vegas on the unveiling of the new Coupe at VOI.8 and I'm guessing the color will be 1996 blue with white or silver stripes.

I only hope the good people at Dodge change the rear end (back of the car) on the new coupe to be more like the Comp Coupes rear end than that of the current SRT-10.

I plan on charging mine on my American Express! Go Dodge - Don't let us down!

If the thread from the "alley" site is correct, there are going to be a bunch of ********** attendees at VOI8 when the quad cab SRT-10 and the new Charger are shown but the new Viper coupe is not.

I pretty excited myself for this. I even have the day marked on my calender, at work, and home. I really can't wait. If it doesn't happen, I guess I'll cry, not much else I can do.

It's actually making me a little angry just hearing some of you guys say it's not going to be there. Man, that cant be healthy. Anyway, hopefully "Black Mamba" is correct with the back of the car situation, I really like the way the comp coupe looks.

I have heard both - "They are building the Coupe" and "They aren't building the coupe".

With new Federal guidlines coming in 07' and the lack of information regarding
a coupe, I'm affraid it's not happening :(

The interest in the SRT/10 has not been what the Viper interest used to be, so
why would DC put more effort into a car that really isn't selling well?

It will take AGGRESSIVE styling and MASSIVE HP to motivate the Viper community now, so I think we will see a bolt on hardtop at VOI 8, possibly the release of
something close to the "Carbon" and that's about it....

Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to see the release of an Aggressive Viper Coupe! Hopefully I'll be SURPRISED!!!
The "magic 8 ball" says "don't get your hopes up" though....

Regards,

On one hand, DC has the tendancy to hide their new models in plain sight, As was the PT crusiser, and many other production cars. If this is the case, then the Carbon would not be unexpected, however they also have car clinics where they gather the opinions of potential buyers. If this is the case, than we can expect something like the Street coupe they showed just prior to the release of the Comp Coupe.
If they release the "Carbon" I think it will be a dud. If they release the "Street Coupe" they will create an ICON!

All I know is, with the new ZO6 due out next year (as 2006 model) with 500+ HP, the Viper will be in trouble.

I will always love and own my GTS because it is a classic but my SRT does not inspire me in the same way and could easily be traded in for a car of similar price with greater performance as the new ZO6 will likely be.

Viperay,

I'm with you, but the Z06 likely will be shy of 500 hp, but there are many
other cars already pushing 500+.

I am interested to see the performance of the next z06 as well, but would still
hop on a Viper Street Coupe with 525-550 hp if it had aggressive styling. If DC wants to build an "Icon" they can, but I don't see DC too excited to do that. Time will tell....

I am puzzled by some of the above. I think the current srt-10 looks great and certainly gets the "looks". I never liked the exaggerated shoe look.
I think it's like the C5/C6 arguement as to looks. Personally, I do not like the looks of the C6. I think the slow down in srt-10 has more to do with the economy and gas----90+k out the door is a lot for some people to come up with.
I am not sure why dodge cannot make both.
Having had a lot of vettes, we shall see if chevy can deliver---which I doubt. However, I would rather have a big block engine, than a rubber band type that has to be wrung hard to get going. Except for the vette, I have come to hate GM with a passion and Hill is a ****.
Since I doubt that viper will let the vette stay in a top dog position for long, I will either mod my current viper or get the second year of a new performing viper. In any case if the newz06 comes through, I don't think it will be as cheap as people think.

If the Viper coupe doesn't come out, and severial more years pass, this could be the end of the Viper as we know it.

The Z06 doesnt need 500hp to compete with the new Viper coupe....Its gonna be 200-300lbs lighter so 475hp or whatever it winds up coming out with will be more than enough in that light body to give a Viper Coupe with 500-525hp a run for the money....DC need to make a statement by making a lighter coupe with about 600hp to put the Z06 firmly back in its place...

If the performance will be close like the current Z06 and GTS then for most it wont justify the big price difference........

The streetable Viper Coupe is in plain site. There have been 55 of them built. Those that are lucky enough to own one have been doing the testing for dodge now for about 1 year or so. Be patient they will come.
