Elections were recently held in Central and North Florida for the President of the Viper Club in this region. Elizabeth Lashinsky won the election over Steve Salis, her challenger, 61 votes to 12 for Steve. There were additonal uncounted ballots for Elizabeth that did not include names of members who voted as well as late ballots that would have given her an additional 13 votes, but these where not counted. Steve Salis had 3 votes not counted in this area. Elizabeth won at a 6 to 1 margin in this election for another two year term as President and Secretary and Tresurer of the club. Corgrats to "Libby" for the vote of confidence she was afforded by those in the Central and North Florida VCA that voted for her. Her new term will begin January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2006.

Congrats.
Is it me or does it seem like Florida has election deficit syndrome?

So your President, Secretary and Treasurer are all the same person ? Kinda like the fox guarding the hen house. Do you guys have anything called by-laws etc ? Oh...I forget....Florida and elections

Our hen house is just fine, thank you.
And, our Rooster can handle any fox that threatens the hen house. As we speak, the Rooster is nailing shutters on the hen house to protect it from Hurricane Charlie, so we don't have any problems in Florida we can't handle.

So, you got less than 1/3 of the total membership (192 members) and you are bragging? Very sad!

Weird how my 2 nominees for Vice President and Secretary never got their acceptance letter!

Financial statements have never been shared with the members, local by-laws don’t exist, you and Libby are running the club like your own social club and all we do is get together, eat and drive home. Heck, the new Event Coordinator has never drove his Viper to any of our “eating outings” since I have been a member.

Great Club! Obviously the members don’t care for the club and that is why they didn’t even vote! You should be proud!

It's a shame that this (and other threads) have turned into noting but love/hate.
At every single club meeting we have attended, the officers (OK, Gary and Libby) have asked for suggestions for events the members would like.
At several meetings, mention is made of the healthy treasury balance which would/will fund great events.
Complaining that Mommy and Daddy don't have events that I like so I hate my parents doesn't make it.
So you didn't want to vote? Then don't ***** about the results.
Even an idiot like me can figure out that if only 1/3 of the membership voted, the other 2/3 could have be able to swing the vote however they wanted. My Dad told me when I was a snot-nosed know-it-all teen-ager that "If you don't vote, you give up your freedoms, including your right to complain about the outcome of the vote".
STOP COMPLAINING AND SUBMIT AN EVENT YOU WANT TO THE CLUB MANAGEMENT. IF YOU DON'T GET HELP, THEN *****. DON'T JUST SAY EAT/RUN MEETINGS AREN'T ENOUGH, PROPOSE SOMETHING.
LIBBY DOES HER BEST, AND PEOPLE DON'T SHOW. SO SHE KNOWS SOMETHING IS WRONG, BUT PUTTING HER IN THE POSITION OF 'GUESSING' WHAT/WHERE YOU WANT IS NOT HER RESPONSIBILITY.
POST WHAT YOU PROPOSE THAT IS REFUSED.
DON'T JUST MAKE ONE PHONE CALL AND CLAIM IT'S NOT RETURNED, EITHER.
IF THE LASHINSKY'S OWED YOU MONEY YOU COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO CONTACT THEM. SO -- COMMUNICATE YOUR DESIRES.
Makes sense to me.

Please answer me this:

Is Elizabeth Lashinsky the President and Secretary and Tresurer of the club like Gary said in the first post ???

It is really a very simple question if you s l o w l y break it down.

It's hard to fathom that there are no bylaws, and if there are bylaws that it would allow the same person to hold all these positions....no matter how good of a person they are. Does national VCA not have certain requirements for regions ?

If all that money is there, let's see if Florida steps up for the December finals of the V10 nats like Kansas did.

Tell you what, Georgia, why don't you ask at the next meeting?
You seem to ask what has been a n s w e r e d already.
Since you seem to be asking about a club to which you don't belong, you probably don't get to vote anyway.
Make friends with a member; have them request funds at the next meeting and report back to you with the answer. I don't know of A N Y (spelled it slow so even you can read it) legitimate event that has gone unfunded.
If no member asks, it sure won't be funded because our club will only do what we members wish to do.
We don't interfere with your club -- don't mess with ours. We can mess it up enough on our own.

Could you name those “legitimate” events? When was the last time that an event took place in Jacksonville? The one and only event was the Christmas party last year. Of course that event did not involve driving our vipers!

You said: “our club will only do what we members wish to do.” How many times we have asked to fund the V-10 Nationals event in Bradenton? All we got was that run around!

Kansas, Texas and Ohio supported the events in their state but till this day our Club has not supported the V-10 Nationals series. Heck, even Dodge itself is supporting the event in Shreveport, LA making it the official drag racing event for VOI.8!

Did you ever get a survey in the mail asking the members the type of events that we want? NO we didn’t!! The Club scheduled a drag racing event at Gainesville and I doubt that there will be more than 10 Vipers that will show up. The track is not “Viper Friendly” (if you don’t know what “Viper Friendly” means then you never drag raced your Viper).

So, why don’t we cancel the event at Gainesville and let’s fund the V-10 Nationals event in Bradenton on December? By the way that event is going to be the Finals of the Series.

So there, this is what a lot of our members want (if you don’t believe me then obviously you don’t talk to any of our members).

Then you said: “We don't interfere with your club -- don't mess with ours. We can mess it up enough on our own.” Obviously your trying to attack 1TONY1 and you didn’t event checked your grammar!

Why wouldn’t want someone to ask questions about your Club? Does the Club have something to hide??? And what is to “mess up”? The “lets get together and eat” every so many weeks? Did you know that the Club spent more than half of their revenue on eating gatherings?

The truth is that the same person (Elizabeth Lashinsky) has been and she will continue to be the President, Secretary and Secretary. Local by-laws don’t exist! Several members have asked for them several times and those that actually got a response were told to download the National By-laws. Needless to say that most of those members have not renewed their membership due to the ignorance of the Club.

Some of my observations...I know Donald has been waiting:

There must be region bylaws....say so in the national bylaws.

The region should be incorporated......maybe it is.

While it does not specifically state this: national bylaws read that the officers should be different people.

Where is national....they should be taking a deep look at this.

I probably have more Florida Viper friends than dancojax.

Sounds like members have and are requesting V10 Nationals funding.....or maybe you need to be in the small clique to request anything ?

Libby and I just got back from a business trip overseas to a Hurricane Charley and damage to our home and business. We are working on getting this priority cleaned up before anything else. A response to these questions brought up will be posted in due time.

Probably not.
When I first responded, I thought there were legitimate concerns, not just hate remarks from 'dissidents.
Another thing my poor departed Pappy told me was:

"Don't try to teach a pig to sing.
It's a waste of your time, and
It Pis*es off the pig"

So, since I hear some 'oinking', I'm done.
I am also sure that both Gary and Libby can be much more productive tending to the damage of Charlie than responding/justifying/defending once again accusations from those who only want to accuse, challenge, complain and disrupt with no other purpose in life than to post controversies.

Very interesting! You didn't answer ANY of my questions/concerns! You KNOW this Club is run by the few and only for the few. Obviously you are the type that enjoys driving to an Auto Club event for the sole purpose of eating… I know an animal that behaves exactly the same way…can you say oink?

By-laws and incorporation were mandated a few years back.

As for funding, I guess my questions is "funding what"? If I want to go to Viper Days I pay the entry fee. If I want to go to a local club event I pay the entry fee. If I want go to the V10 Nationals I pay the fee. Are you looking for sponsors?

There are a few programs that are available to fund certian programs for a Zone, I think they are $500 two times a year. Why not apply for that grant. Who knows if they have used the two this year, but if you apply now and validate why it should be used to bring multiple regions in a zone together then you should be considered for it.

Good luck!

I'm going to get you wimps into some stock car racing in November. Dunno what the cost will be but it will be for VCA members only. We are going to need at least 20 to sign up so start saving some money. Check out the track www.USASpeedway.com The school is Drivetech.com I did 25 laps for about $300 earlier this year and had a blast! The downside is at 30 seconds a lap, 25 laps go by very fast. Much better than The Richard Petty Experience in Orlando (so-so) and the Buck Baker School in Atlanta (total ripoff).

Unbelievable how those stock cars grip.

With Drivetech you are the only one in the car and you get to pass other cars. Not me of course, I'll be passing all of you.

We're shooting for a November date. After the VRL season. Will check with Lashinsky about non-N.Central FL VCA members.

I'd smoke Woods butt on the ovals.

Ducking for cover.

Chuck, thanks for working on this VCA event for the club. Keep me posted on what date and cost so we can put the information out to our members.
