Received offer of 55K..What do you think?

I have had my car up for sale although I have not actively persued it..With the mods listed below what do you think of the offer?

Supercharged and Intercooled by DOUG LEVIN MOTORSPORTS ..675RWHP..661 RWTQ This is one of the most beautiful and fully customized viper Roadsters..All carbon fiber interior Dash and Door Panels, Carbon Fiber Wheel
wells coolant resevoir and heater assembly under hood. Polished and chromed hood hinges, high flow custom aluminum radiator..Too many extras to list inside and out... Removable Hard top, Stoptech 4 wheel big brake kit, Unitrax medium duty half shafts, T & D Roller Rockers, Belanger headers and exhaust,Snakehydes interior,Momo shifter and steering wheel,Daytona style deck gas cap, Door Poppers,custom vented hood and facia, HRE 547'S and Michelin Street Drag radials on rears, HID lights, all polished intake manifold and custom polished
Billet Aluminum valve covers, Extended DC service contract until 1/23/2007.

I would, it's missing the orignal hood and fascia, that's 10K worth of parts right there.

DLM cars are extremely well built, but they aren't for everyone. It is also a 96 which has all the baggage of the Gen I's associated with it. As much as I'd like to see all DLM cars for for 90k+, I think that 55 for yours is fair. Heck, if I sold mine today I'd be happy with 60k.. Not that I am selling it, but you can't expect that much return out of the mods.

Adam,

I would cut my losses and move on. There aren't alot of guys for cars like yours. Beautiful car with a ton of money put into it,but not for everyone.

Again, your welcome to put it in my showroom if you want to.

Take it and run Adam. Look at it like this. If you don't take the offer, what would you hold out for? 2k more? 3k, 5k more? Holding out for 5k (which really isn't all that much) is worth jeapordizing the sale?........

I'm just realistic is all. Same goes for any car selling with modded parts like body panels. It's known that the crap vipermed sells is not on par with the originals.

$55k seems OK, I would think $60k would be best case.
I guess it really depends on if you can give it up for that price.
How many miles are on it?

Take it in my opinion, that's if you want to sell, but why do you want to sell? The motive so to speak, if you want to sell so you can move on to another car then it's a real good price, but if you were just shopping the market as your comments indicate, why sell at all, it's a DLM car in the best color ever made.

That's fantastic but they aren't original. That's the thing with modded, personalized cars. The loss you have to take as a result of building a car to your specific tastes is all part of the cost of ownership.

What do the hood/fascia cost and what's stock originals worth that are extremely hard to find now???

See my point? I am not trying to dog on you or your car, I bet it's a real monster, but it's clear that market value is not where you would hope it is.

I think your car is awesome. Do you have the original wheels.. perhaps take the $55k with stock wheels and get a bit more by selling the wheels on there own.

Your car looks awesome, no question. I would buy it in a heartbeat.....if it didn't have the CF interior. I HATE IT. YOu probably love it as some others do, but, without
the original interior....I would not buy it for 50K. That is not a slight at all, so please don't take it that way...

You built your car for you, and not everybody has your
taste. Parting out those killer wheels, and some of the
other high end doo-dads would probably give you a much
better return.

As that goes...I would love to have DLM do my blower.
That costs about 15K alone. My car is probably worth about
40K now, if I had the blower I'm at 55K and I don't have one half of the mods you have......Its a ******!!! either way. Good luck on the sale.

Adam if it were me I would NOT sell that car for any amount of money, but since you do want to sell it (your crazy) I think its worth a hell of alot more then 55K but like alot of these guys rae saying its a buyers market for a modded car.

If it were me I would not take anything under 100K and if it diden't sell ohh well.

BTW the car looks AWESOME man and good luck either way it turns out.

I personally think the car is bad arss. I would expect more, but I think 55k is a taker if you are ready to move on.

Are you just bored with the car or do you need to sell it? Maybe spending time on this site has our Viper shock and awe threshold on low. I don't understand the responses you are getting.

That car is flat out sick! I'm no authority on modified car values, but I can certainly see putting up that kind of money for your car.

Here's my thoughts,

When I saw that your car was for sale, I got curious and checked the Dupont registry. It was listed at 55K. I could not believe it. Same day I called Ed (Acellr8)and we had a long discussion. We are both big Gen 1 fans.

I thought about selling my Red -93 instantly, worth on a good day maybe 35K? I would have needed only 20K more to get yours.
That is redicously cheap for me! I understand the amount of work put into it and the expence of all the motor modifications. On top of that, it was Doug Levin's set up. That makes me feel confident that the car is properlly prepared and made.
When it comes to the interior and exterior, I like it. Not a huge fan of the seats, but in YOUR set up they look good, since the enviroment around the seats supports the theme, carbon fibre.

Would have I not started finishing my basement already, you would no longer own your Viper, thats for sure.. :2tu:

Hell, I would have even taken a beating on mine , just to get yours... :smirk:

Do it if you really want to get rid of it.
If you are just thinking and have no other reason (need bucks for another project etc.) dont do it.

I would not. Not even for the basement with a cigar room...

You have had the car advertised for 55K and now have a full price offer, what's the issue? If you really wanted to sell the car this thread wouldn't exist. Looks more like an excuse to further advertise the car. No flame....... :usa:

This is a good line of thought. Adam, if you're looking for a few more G's maybe the way to do it is see if your buyer is not teribly interested in certain mods that you can sell elsewhere.

Don't know exactly why, but the car SEEMS to be a LOT of car for 55G's.

Contact Barret-Jackson, and see what they think your car would go for at their auction. I'm not sure it qualifies to even get into the auction, but it can't hurt to call. Plus you might get some rich dudes fighting over it and go over 100k ??? My wife needs a new car, but I would have to take off the blower and and and never mind.....

I know how long it takes to get all of those mods completed, and running correctly, and the buyer is going to just snap it up and have it "all" right then and there. It's not fair that you can not get all you put into it, because time is not calculated into the factor. The only question, is it "TOTALLY" reliable right now for someone to buy it and expect to drive on a long trip in the heat of summer etc...If not, then you have to sacrifice price for someone who knows what it will take to maintain this beast without calling you every other weekend.

I would think that the bling bling mods are also a factor in keeping the price down, not that there is anything wrong with that but everybody has their own taste so it narrows the field somewhat.
