Potential E-bay ad

$75,000 (Reserve Not Met)

Business plans have forced me to auction my black SRT-10 Dodge Viper. The car has 505 cubic inch engine and manual transmission. It is garage kept and has low miles. I have taken very good care of the car, but business requires that I auction it. If I could fault it in any way, there is some minor road rash on the front end as you can see in the photos above. These can be buffed out. The car is hardly ever driven in traffic, and the low mileage was accrued on back country roads. There is some road noise audible from inside the car since the above photos, and I am contacting the dealer because this may be Dodge's fault. Happy bidding, and as you can see, my reserve is quite low.

"Yup. That'll do it every time. Too much money, not enough sense.
I wonder what his hobby next week will be ..."

And I wish Craig were here to enjoy the irony that it is on an S2000 forum. I suspect he is in here in spirit anyway... ;)

Tell you what I'm with SRTRICKY. I am changing my driving habits with this SRT. The other day on a highway overpass the surface was ribbed and I added some gas when the rear just wheels popped without warning. I am now a believer and get on it ONLY with the wheels straight ahead and plenty of open road call it Respect!

Just like SRTRicky says, I really take it easy on winding roads. No hurry, just drive normal. To many trees to hit. Leaves, dirt, dust, poor roads, and wide tires don't mix, not to mention, I'm not a race car driver. This is all to common, on these kind of roads.

Viper D sure has a point on the tires. I know this all to well. I really love those big Nitto drag radials, but even they have there limit.

"drag radials?" Dunno if they would have faired much better on twisties.

at least with drag radial your not driving with false hope. You know the limits b/f you put them on yourself. With the run craps there is a false hope factor that thank god i didn't find out the hard way but close enough though.

Then you might as well buy a Mercedes SL500. Maybe a weekend at a good driving school should be mandatory before purchase.

Personally if I could not hammer this thing in the curves and mountain roads why bother? The SRT10 Viper is a GREAT car in the twisties ... you just have to know how to drive it and when/where to let it loose.

Thank you. The tires WILL give you warning. They are not that bad and they do have a decent amount of lateral grip. Abrupt inputs are what unsettles this car - NOT pushing it in the twisties. Even with these run flats - the SRT kills all the Gen 1 and Gen II cars in an autocross - no matter what tires the earlier cars are running. I slalomed our old 2003 with runflats at Road Atlanta during the Zone Rendezvous and even the Panoz guys that were watching told me "you couldn't go through that course any faster unless you had slicks." The car was amazing. Warm tires, warm road, and smooth inputs = tremendous grip.
