Formula 1 Car Motor Test \"\"IMPRESSIVE\"\"

I don't know if this has floated around VCA or not. For those who have not seen this, it will knock your socks off. It idles around 11k and revs around 20k. Awsome! It is probably better if you right click and save target as on your computer for future showings but you can also just click on it and enjoy. Clicking on it uses a lot more bandwidth. Also turn your speakers up.

View it and let us know how you like it.

How can those guys stand there without ear protection? I saw the races last year in indy, and the noise was unreal. Awesome video - thanks for sharing.

The one guy who seems to not have protection does. He is standing on the right. Early in the video you can see the ear plugs strap around his neck.

If that don't excite you, better check for a pulse!

There was another video almost exactly like this one, only they were ramping the rpms up and down at specific levels to make musical tones, and playing some kind of song with it. I think it was Silent Night.

(no sh*t!)

With some ammo packed in those headers we could end this stinking war tomorrow.
So cool!

Re: Formula 1 Car Motor Test

I watched the Canadian F1 race last weekend and a graphic was displayed on screen that showed the difference between F1 & NASCAR. A NASCAR produces 650-850BHP and costs $150K to build the car (not campaign). A F1 car produces 850BHP (which I have seen other sources quote 1000BHP) and costs $14 million to build. Back in the day a F1 car would accellerate from 0-100mph, back down to zero in 4 seconds. That was 10-15 yrs ago.

The technology deficency between the slowest qualifier and the winning F1 car can be in the millions of dollars. That's a class you need to pay to be competitive in.

Back to the post. THANKS for the video !

Today's USGP is still on. The FIA won't allow Michelin to switch tires. It will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully, there will be no accidents (unlike what Nascar fans want). This year has been the most exciting F1 since 1997.

It'll be interesting to see how Scott Speed does, first American F1 driver since Michael Andretti.

Re: Formula 1 Car Motor Test

Psst... Both the F1 3.0L V10 engines (~19,000 RPM) and the NASCAR 5.7L V8 (~9600RPM) are around 930 hp. Interestingly, if you account for the smaller engine spinning faster and the larger engine spinning slower, they both have similar air consumption and power production efficiency. The engine that will actually surpass them in efficiency will be next year's F1 2.4L V8, which will be ~825 from 2.4L.

Re: Formula 1 Car Motor Test

I just went out and started my V10. Something must be wrong because my engine doesn't sound anything like that. His idle RPM is Twice my RED LINE!!!!! That is truly amazing and what a sound. I think Indy Motor Speedway may have a tough time selling tickets next year. I really felt sorry for the people that were there. :( :( :(

11 N. Calif. club members that went to Indy for the race. They were pretty disappointed to say the least.

F1 and Ferrari showed their fan appreciation and character. Hope "Karma" is alive and well for F1.

Re: Formula 1 Car Motor Test

I was there. My first and maybe last F1 race. Two rows in front of me, family of 8 flew in that day. After they saw what happened got up and left maybe 5 laps in. Many people from England, India, Italy, and all over USA. All felt disapointed. Dark day for F1 racing
