With all the twin turbo cars popping up, I thought I would just let the Roe guys know that there are some still being installed and making some good power. I finished the tune on a '97 last night for a car going to the Hot Rod 5 day 5 race event. It laid down 668 and 686 on 93 octane only...no water/****... no additives at all. I added a little race gas and a 40 shot and it made 824 and 1040. There was more to be made but the owner was a little concerned being that he has to follow NHRA rules and can't break out of the 10's without the proper safety equipment...He wanted a safe tune that he could drive to the event and race at each track with no issues. I think there is 850 and 1150 in the car with an agressive tune and the right gas....not to bad for a daily driver in my opinion.
See ya,
Joe

Those are some healthy numbers. What kind of headwork and what cam did you put in the car? How many PSI was the blower running? I have to say that that is a pretty impressive 40 shot. 150rhwp and 350rwtq!

WoW,

That blower must super heat the air if only a 40 shot made that much difference. You sure it was only a 40 shot? How big are the jets?

What pulley are you running? I think you meant to say a 140 shot, I was planning on adding a 200 shot to mine, here is my recent dyno sheet tuned by Sean Roe, mods are SVS headers, 3" Borla, ****, and 8# pulley. everything else is stock. I hear the record is 750RWHP and 760RWTQ off the bottle for a Roe, Great #'s!!! I cant wait to add the N20/Propane.

Hi Joe,
Good job on the tune.
We finished a '97 yesterday with the following mods; our SC kit with 2.3" pulley (made 12 psi), 68 mm throttle bodies and modified factory air filter housing (existing), S&B air filters (existing), B&B 1.75" headers, no cats, 3" cat-back (existing), 1.7 T&D rockers (existing), stock rear gear, water / methanol injection, our heads, aluminum flywheel and completely stock otherwise.
I was able to tweak it up to 705 RWHP (SAE) and 768 RWTWQ (SAE). On three back to back runs, the lowest was around 687 RWHP. Fun car. I think it was 700 RWTQ at about 2,700 RPM.

Regards,
Sean

Hey guys,
This is a stock short block...stock displacement, pistons, and cam. I have a set of my shops ported heads which flowed high 280s @ 550. They were ported specifically for a blower with a stock lift cam. It has light weight valves and valvetrain (titanium) for better rpm response. I ported the lower intake to match the heads and ported the blower with some tricks I use on the Eatons. It has a "40" shot not a 140...I make a lot more power with less nitrous and more timing than more nitrous and less timing...I use it to cool the air and nothing more. I did a stock long block last year that made 778 and 1106 and the car ran 9.78 @ 145 in Florida. It had the same 40 shot with no engine mods at all. These blowers respond very well to nitrous and can make huge torque gains with the right tune.
see ya,
Joe

Joe thats simply amazing, you gained 182RWHP and 354RWTQ on a 40 shot of nitrous! Great job man, I didn't mean to doubt you there I am new to owning a Roe blown car, I have been told to expect 120RWHP and almost 200RWTQ from a 100 shot which I thought was great. What would you expect if you had no port work/no head work?

I guess what I'm asking is, on my car.. I have SVS 1/5" primarys, 3" borla, no cats, and water **** 8psi. If I added a 150 shot what kind of HP/TQ should I be seeing?

I have had N20 on my cars for years. No way you are going to pick up 350lbs of torque from JUST adding a 40 shot of N20 and doing nothing else. Other variables had to change as well from the baseline pull. Fuel mapping, timing, humidity/air temps during the baseline dyno, boost change, overall heatsoak of the engine etc etc. Even then I don't care how much you cool the air down you will not pick up that much torque from that small amount of N20. I seriously doubt the hp numbers as well, although depending on how much the car benefited from the cooler charge and a severe change in other things bewteen dyno runs it is somewhat more reasonable.

Pumpgas,
All pulls were made from 7:eek:o pm and 2:00 am Thursday evening with the temps in the high 80s and humidity in the 30-40 percent range. The blower was packed with ice between pulls and fans on the entire time. The external blower housing temps were at 50 degrees and coolant was at 190 for each pull for consistency. My tunes look nothing like the 6d-9d cards from Sean...those are a very nice place to start, but with 110 octane and a steady bottle pressure and a very agressive tune you can design your own curves. Are my nitrous tunes safe on pump gas....no way...will I run them on anything less than 110...no way. I am here to make as much power as possible with what I have to deal with...I think this combo will make more than most people think. I ran 2 other vipers in Florida, my own and a stock (completely stock)'98 with 2 stages. The '98 went 10.10 @141 only hitting the second stage in 4th gear...(it made over 740 and 960 to the wheels). After hitting both stages on the line we twisted the halfshafts into pretzels. There was another car there that I tuned that had never gone faster than 10.60s if I am not mistaken, and went 9.91 with the only change being a tune. So yes, there are alot of changing variables...it is called the program. Nitrous and this v10 motor were made to be together. I know what you are saying, but there are other ways to tune cars besides the tried and true safe ways. Look at Tom @ BTR, his cars absolutely fly on the bottle...I think there others out there like myself and Tom among many others that try to push the envelope a little and try differt things to see if there is more power there than using 1995 nitrous theories and technolgy.

10-4. Good luck with the cars. However you got them there they are making big big power.

Just finished my dyno tune with Sean's help. Threw out a funny blip in middle. Settled on 820 lb.ft. of torque and 676 hp at rear wheel. But blip in dyno showed 925 lb. ft and 705 hp at rear wheel. Saved it for show anyway. Sean was very helpfull via long distance. Got AF in 11.8 to 12.1 range. across the board. Runs great, and got 20 miles per gallon on trip to and from zone rondezvous in St. Louis.

That's monster torque without nitrous. :2tu: :usa:
