Hi all

I have a question for you guys. I read in the summer issue of the Viper Magazine on page 29 that Mopar offers a program to remanufacture GEN-1 engines with original parts and so on, it sounds very good. I have over 100'000 miles on mine, and I'm thinking to remanufacter my engine at around 140'000 - 150'000 miles.

- Does someone knows about prices for this program ?
- How long is the engine gone ?
- has someone already done it, experiences ?

Thanks a lot for an answer.

Hi,
how much they charge for remanufacturing your Engine?

It could be cheaper to do this in Switzerland (no shipping costs ect.).

I previously brought partially disassembled Corvette, Ferrari and Lancer Evo Engines to SIM-Motorentechnik in Bern.
They can disasemble Heads and shortblock, check all tolerances and determine if cylindersleeves/pistons have to be replaced.

They use high quality bearings etc. as well... if necessary you can still order stuff like Pistons and sleeves from Mopar when it makes you feel more comfortabel.

No mather if you remanufacture an Engine from a Viper. Ferrari, Mitsubishi or Emergency Generator... it must be done serious and precise.
At least they are all the same.

...and once again i conversate in english with another swiss. ;)

I wouldn't do it, if you see no engine related problems.

The hassle of getting out the engine, shipping two times across the pond, re-assembling the engine ...

Another option. You could purchase one of the few remanufactured crate motors from DC. Believe only a few Gen1's left. Keep it in storage until you need it, and just plug it in. Then sell your old engine to a rebuilder, or e-bay. Keep the original crate to resell/ship old engine.

Hey, wow ! Thank you very much guys, I was amazed about all these answers, you're great ! Thanks.

Basically you're right, if it's not broken, don't fix it.. maybe it was a stupid idea to think about remanufacter the enginge, just because it has a lot of miles on it... I think that size of engine with 150'000 miles is just nicely run in, right ? ;-) ... Ok I'll think about it if I wanna do it or not.

Why I've choosen Mopar, because in the magazine they said that they will change a lot of pieces with complete new and original parts, so that sounded good instead to give it to someone who does any engine... but at the bottomline, it's just an engine isn't it, it's the best on the planet, but it's just an engine... maybe I'll call this company in Bern Viperama told and ask some questions.

For those who wondered about our name, we're the Viper Club of America, Region Switzerland. But with the new name 'politics' we don't use 'Region' and the comma anymore, that's why it looks a bit strange ;-).

thanks again guys !
