If you are a lonely computer guru in Menlo Park then add a VEC2 with two LC-1 unit to your Viper. You will have plenty of fun ... espetially with a good radar detector on the I-280 at 5AM Saturday morning !

You are gonna need to adjust a few things.

A gen 1 (96 rt) computer will not plug into your car, and even if it did you would without a doubt loose power. So you may want to talk to the guy doing the work again about what it is he is doing. The only computer mod you should be doing is either an AEM unit or a Vec 2.

If you do not get an AEM unit then you will need O2 sim's or your check engine light will be on.

thanks Guys, can't wait to get the car back. Only drove it for 1 full day before getting it modded ;-)

Russ, I have a call into Ted at Valaya to here what he has to say. It would suprise me that he would be doing something that would not work as his shop handles 90% of vipers here in NorCal.

I will post his response and thanks again for the feedback!

Sorry, if you assume Fred made a technical blunder, he meant to say/type a 96 GTS pcm, then he is actually correct, it will work.. and very well. I have been running a 96 PCM in my car for 6 months, I have also ran a 98 and a Mopar PCM. Real world says it works, and I have dyno results proving the differences. I assume you are getting him on a technicallity, otherwise if you think that the 96 GTS pcm doesnt work because you heard it from someone else please dont perpetuate some of the miss truths that arise around here. If you have real world example of something not working, then speak up. If you heard from a friend of a friend of a friend, well feel free to share that, but site your reference accordingly. Not ******** at you Rush, just a pet peeve of mine (more then anything, I think you really are just letting him know a 96 RT is a Gen 1, but a 96 GTS would work and so would a 97 RT.

Jon

PS. AND OH... Fellow 2002 ACR Owner, WELCOME !!! 1 of 22 here myself !! I prefer A/C ;-) :2tu:

PSS. Fred, I hope to god you have the ORIGINAL ACR wheels that come with our ACRs as they are WORTH more then the set currently on in those photos. You will want to shelve stock ACR rims for the future, they will be worth more then gold, the currently already are worth more then silver ;-)

Jon,

You wake up on the wrong side of the bed or what?

He clearly stated that it was a 96rt computer he was putting in which would make it a gen 1. Not 97rt, not 96 gts.....

It is a pet peeve of mine when people go off on a rant, and when shops try to rip people off.

lol, no, I wake up on that same side every day. Russ its why I qualified my rant. We both know the guy is new, and probably said RT instead of GTS, or simply got the Year wrong. Thats all. Also, if we want to play technicalities, the 96 RT is actually a gen 1.5, so says Henry Cone, who I'll take over you.
