I cant read anymore...... The viper just keeps getting its a*s waxed by the Z06 & Ford GT. I hate hearing from all my associates " Did you see all the tests with the new Viper, its No longer the King" Every magazine I read gets worst.

Just get out and drive your snake, the smiles and enjoyment make the bullshyt go away....

when the bowtie guys figure out there is nothing else they can do with there Z06 for hp gain, then they will realize they should of bought a Viper, we lack a little from the factory, but that is it, the Viper platform will allways be king, and what car guy does not like moding there car in some way...

I say, bring em on, and lets have some fun....

its ok I honestly believe the tests are fixed.

too much of a diff beteween tests and as far as most of the tests go the new coupe is slower then the SRT 10 and the z06 goes from a 4.3 0 - 60 ALL THE WAY down to a 3.4 (beating the ford GT) now thats a jump.

its all B.S. I ben the snake whips it on the streets

I know I had a guy tell me today at lunch that he had read the same article in MT,and that the ZO6 beat the viper in about every test,I told him when he get one to bring it over and then let see what happens.He walk away.

While I agree Who Gives a SH*! go out and enjoy your car :2tu: , you could not be more WRONG about the Z06 being at the HP limit. Dyno tests reveal 45RWHP with a set of headers alone, one look at them and you'll understand. Long tubes and a beefier cam and you're looking at 525RWHP on a stock headed engine.

Having said that giver me a Gen II GTS ANYDAY :2tu:

It's a BIG HOAX GM paid off ALL the magazines, the New Z06 really runs 15's in the 1/4.

Just remember competion is a good thing and that there is ALWAYS someone faster. Who cares if the Vette is faster, does that make your Viper any less of a car? As far as getting beat by a lesser car, do you think a Ferrari or a Lambo owner gives a sh*! if a Viper is faster? Of course not he's driving a Ferrai while the other is only guy is in a Viper. So why care if/when a Vette beats you?

heck there are motorcycles out there that will eat the viper gt40 and the zo6 for lunch,how many are going to buy one .

Here's hoping that someday soon DC will provide the option to get an added power fix factory direct...until then there's Paxton so no real need to sweat it.

you really shouldnt take it that way. what if dodge comes back with more hp and beats the z06 by a tenth or two... then people will be saying the same thing about the viper and so on. as far as the variations in magazines, r&t explained the reasoning behind their numbers and makes sense. as long as they perform them the same way for each car, it's all good.

because more and more magazines are showing the z06 on top... imo, i think that there is a new king in town. but i also have no doubt that the viper can come back out on top if dc does something and then hopefully chevy does the same and we keep it up until there is no advantage for the two-wheelers :)

also from what i've read, the z06 takes to modifying well.

it's all good.

like others said, take the car out for a drive and enjoy.

The new Z06 takes to modding well? I just read about one blowing the engine after a couple runs with NOS. Maybe the result of poor tuning...but if the guy spent +$70K on the car, you'd think he could afford to have a professional install and tune it.

how else do you explain such a huge diff in 0 - 60 and 1/4 mile times for the z06??? 4.3 to 3.4?? like i said before thats an evo to a saleen S7.

Also the crappy times for the coupe?? its getting slower times then the SRT/10 how is that possible?? did D.C. detune it? or ADD weight?? how could it be slower? how do you explain that one as well??

just those 3 things alone makes me think theres some B.S. going on theres no other way to explain it.

A Viper is a Viper!

Toay,nobody turns head for a Corvette... but everybody does for a 7 year old GTS like mine.

And the Ford GT? Nice Car... but for this much Money i would like to see much better Performance or something else than a Ford sign on my Car. They are rare, so dont worry about that they are maybe a little bit faster.

Remember, more than 99,9% of all the People out there can just dream of a "slow" Viper... but YOU own one!
Be happy for that! :)

Was in a gas station this week in the Viper. Also present was newer Corvette. Three guys came over to talk about the Viper. Everybody ignored the 'Vette.

BTW, one of the three was the "Vette owner.

Hmmmm.

Just for kicks, do what I did a few weeks ago. Went to the Chevy dealer with my Viper and parked it right in front of the showroom and walked inside. Within ten minutes there were more than 6 people gathered around my car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I then came back out.
I stood back and listened to the conversation. Everybody said the VIPER was a great looking car, much better than the Vette. One of those guys was a Corvette salesman and he agreed with the other customers. Guess what at that point I couldn't have cared less if my Viper was 250 HP
As far as I was concerned I was King of the Hill. I bought my Viper 4 months ago when everyone was saying that the Z06 was faster than the Viper. I still bought the Viper,
what does that tell you.I say this to some of you malcontents if your not happy with the Viper then go buy your Z06. What are you waiting for GET GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!

ZO6(1st gear) - 3.9 sec.
Viper(2nd gear) - 4.2 sec.

*0-100 mph
ZO6 - 8.8 sec.
Viper - 9.3 sec.

*1/4 mile
ZO6 - 12.2 @ 120.7 mph
Viper - 12.3 @ 118.3 mph

4.3 is what a regular plain jane Corvette runs 0-60. Add 100 hp (that is a 25% increase in power), better meats and lighter weight and 3.4 seems much more realistic.

Yes the coupe weighs more than the SRT-10. But it will be a much better track car than the SRT-10 for the added stiffness it gives.

Besides, these times are NOT written in stone, they are magazine times. Noone is going to get the same performance every time. They are only general performance numbers, rough estimates based on a few runs.

I also love the magazine quote about the price difference, the Z06 being less. But what they don't tell you is that Vipers are selling for ~$20k less than invoice and Z06's are selling for $20-30k over invoice, that's reality. That argument now falls in the Vipers favor and changes the whole price point argument. I know this may be no solice to some, but in 2 cars that are essentially performance equals, I'll take the Viper (SRT-10 convertible), save myself some money and have the much more rare car and the clear head turner.

If SRT-10 owners worry about losing by a car length or 2 in the 1/4, just put on a supercharger. $7800 if you do the work yourself, $10300k installed and you don't have to worry anymore. Done. Now was that so hard.

I understand the point but the Viper (in most mag tests anyway) is getting LOWER 1/4 times AND SLOWER 0 - 60 then the SRT 10.

Exactly 4.3 is the plain jane vette so why are some mags getting it on the new Z06? and others 3.4 on the same car thats a huge diff and makes it look like the vette was "done up" a little just for the tests.

I thought the coupe was slightly lighter not heavier but I may be wrong.

Some of these same mags that are getting 4.2 and 4.1 - 0 - 60 for the new coupe , got 3.9 and 3.8 for the SRT 10 that really makes no sense to me.

if the above were the case D.C. "downgraded" and should have not made the coupe because it is slower then the SRT 10.

1st vid of the car racing (that I know of) and it blows its brand new motor, thats gotta get some car sales lined up for sure.

The guy was running nitrous on an untuned engine. There is no software to tune the C6 Z06 motor yet so running nitrous is bound to mess up the engine.
