Need some help guys(and gals). IF I don't sell my Viper, I am thinking of possibly selling my NX setup and getting a Roe blower. I have heard from a very reliable source (don't ask for a name, as I will not say) that supercharging a Gen1 is not good. First and foremost is the head gasket issue. And was also told that they don't flow air as well as the Gen2's do.
So what I am looking for is anyone that has had ANY problems with their Gen1 blowers or just anyone that really knows what they are talking about in regards to possible problems associated with a Gen1/blower setup.
Nitrous is really fun but it is a pain when you have to fill the bottles. And with a 10# bottle you only have about 7#'s of usable Nitrous. I guess I just want something that I don't have to worry about. Always on and no worrying about "needing to fill the bottles".
Any help would be appreciated. As always, I thank you in advance for your cooperation. :D

I have a gen1 with a roe blower 10lb pulley and I love it. Of coarse I do have a little nitrous also. Expect about 580rwhp and 650 rwtrq with 10 lb pulley, and a little less with gears. It runs great with no problems and the instant power is amazing. I would definetly go with the blower if you can spend the money. The power is allways there whenever you want it to be.

It's nice to see that Mitchie is always willing to go the extra mile and demo new Roe chargers, tops and other things for our fellow VCA members. You da man! :2tu:

I would probably ask $1,200 for everything which would include 2 10# bottles, the bottle holder which is really nice and made out of aluminum, 2 bottle heaters, window switch which was never installed or used, all of the plumbing and solenoids, purge valve, etc. I also have a lot of different N2O/fuel jets so you can have pretty much as little or as much "fun" as you want. Not sure if this is the route I want to go, I am going to call Sean as well as a tuner in Chicago to check on the availability and to see how much money is involved.

IEATVETS,

My 94 has been trouble free since the Roe install(2500 miles). If you recall, the Gen 1's have a lower compression ratio, forged internals, which in my book, make it a great choice for a s/c. I am running an 8# pulley, water ****, factory gen 1 headers, 3" exhaust, and I am currently at 551rwhp and 640rwtq. I just get in and drive it, no messing with anything(I do read the plugs just to be safe).

Thanx Marty. Did Scotty do your install and tuning? I know he sells and installs Roe blowers and knows what he is doing with Vipers. (at least that what he tells me!!) I will probably go this route, I just am not to savvy on the VEC2 and how to read what your engine is doing.

Duane,

Every Viper I have been in or near that has had a blower on sounds so cool. They just pull so ******* acceleration right up until you have to shift. You always have instant power on demand and no worries about potential NOS related problems.

Were it me I'd do the blower for sure.

I got the blower from Scotty, had CPE(Paolo's) do the install. I took it to Joe Donovan(drove to St Louis) and had him to the final tune. Joe really knows his stuff when it comes to tuning with the VEC 2. I am trying to convince myself that I have enough HP, but something tells me I may be back to see Joe again! The car is pretty quick the way it sits though. You know the old saying, "there is always somebody thats faster". I set out to build a fun car with some power, and I have met my goal. I know 550rwhp is a piss in the ocean to some, but for my Gen 1 is seems about right. I am going to be getting a 96-97 GTS in the future, and I will be taking that one to Paolo for his TT kit. The GTS just feels so much more safe at higher speeds than the RT10.

Anyhow, I think you will love the Roe s/c if you decide to go that route.
