Hey I have had a bad time with slave cylinders two of them have broken now within 100 miles. I am not cocking the tranny so I know its not installation. I think that my new clutch is defective. It is a brand new spec stage 3. They just redesigned the clutch and I wonder if something is screwed up. Has anyone had a similar situation. This is geting real frustrating. Thanks

Don't quote me, but I heard there was a bad batch of slave-cylinder castings made, OE from parts supplies...Dodge are involved and looking into this at the mo!!! The casting would crack under any fluid pressure!

For now, perhaps get a good take-off replacement? It isn't fun keep pulling the tranny!

We had to replace the slave cylinder twice on a SRT-10 because they leaked right out of the box.

Yikes, you have to pull the tranny to get to the slave cylinder? Only slave cylinder I ever replaced was on a Toyota 4x4, was a piece of cake. I did not even need to jack it up as it sat high enough to climb under.

Thanks for the info. I will contact dodge monday. Ill post on the reason and where it is cracked later on. Im going to pull it out this morning. By the way the slave cylinder is inside the tranny. It pushs on the throw out bearing from behind it. I just wish the design was a little better. I wonder if there is a aftermarket upgrade?

When I replaced my slave cyl, I got an after-market one (not the mopar) and had no trouble w/ the spec III. I don't know if the after-market one is an "upgrade" but it has worked so far.

I found ou t what happened today the pilot bearing blew apart and caused the shaft in the tranny to wobble at high rpm and broke the slave cylinder.

yup, I just had the same experience. New slave ordered in with clutch assembly from Archer Racing. The slave began to leak immediately upon hooking up the quick disconnect hydraulic line from the master. Upon disassembly, found that the new part was cracked concentric to the tranny shaft hole, all the way around. New one on order. The folks at Parts Rack and Archer Racing have been good to work with and I hope the new one holds out. I was told that the slave from Archer is a Stock OEM part...? Any one else having the same trouble???

The slave cylinder God must be mad! I backed out of my garage yesterday, pushed the clutch pedal in, almost backed into my house. Huge fluid leak under car. No warning. Dodge dealer will repair with stock OEM part. This one lasted 33,000 miles. I will have them check for the above problems. Thanks for the heads up. Hope to have it back in time to drive to Bradenton... :headbang: :usa:

I have lost two of these in my SRT-10 and one in my GTS. Total miles between the two cars is less than 40,000. I now have a spare in my trailer.

Any idea if there is something better on the market? This thing isn't cheap, is hard to get to and doesn't seem to last very long. I am now running synthetic fluid in both of them which seems to help.

Good luck.
