Just installed a new set of ****** headers on my '96 RT/10. They are ceramic coated so will be a little cooler than stock. I have Magnecor wires and was wondering if most people remove the little heat shield tubes from their plugs? When istalling headers, do most leave off the heat reflective shields that were on the stock cast iron manifolds? Not sure if I need them with ceramic coated headers? MGH

I took the heat sheilds off when i did my belangers....most do. i would get a set of the insulation socks to slide over the caps to protect from the heat...just in case. that's what we all did out here in ohio anyway!! :2tu:

It seems like people with coated headers don't have any problems. I have Belangers and don't have a problem. However people with stainless uncoated headers have melt downs. But it doesn't hurt to have some insurance anyway.

Since the ****** Headers are ceramic coated and I have Magnecor I will try them without the little metal shiels but will probbaly at least buy the socks for the wires. Without the metal shields it will be easier to get the plug socket on the plugs. Thanks for all the replies. MGH

Don't bother with the hookers, quality control problems. Nice Ceramic coat but the flanges are a little thin, and the left collector O2 Sensor **** is at the wrong angle. I can't get my O2 sensor to work as the top part interferes with one of the frame braces. I have removed the collector and will have the sensor **** moved. BTW: Called ******, they no longer manufacturer headers for the Viper and are not interested in fixing even though these are new. Not customer service from ****** it seems since they were purchased by Holley. MGH
