After a few experiments with different cats etc. in the past 5 years my old Borla exhaust doesnt look nice anymore (well, not as the rest underneath the car).

After checking the Borla Homepage, i noticed that there are two different Catback Systems available.

Number 14663 is equal to my old system with only two Mufflers.

The "new" 140049 has two additional Mufflers in the back (4 Mufflers total).

Link: Borla

Since i removed my cats, the car became very loud so i think the System with 4 Mufflers should be the way i should go... but not sure.

Did anybody try this system?

Why is the 4 Muffler system cheaper than the one with only 2 Mufflers?
Does it have a smaller diameter?

Thanks

I've had both systems and didn't like the four muffler version at all, too quiet and raspy. If you liked the old system, you will probably not find the new one to your liking.

Good to know that they come with the new style tips, they look great!

Baz removed the cats as well?

I replaced mine with Summit Mufflers and it sounds well.

I plan to install a set of Headers (Edelbrock) and the 4 Muffler Borla without Cats...should'nt be to different.

I had the four muffler Borla with no cats and it sounded like sh*t. If you liked the old Borla, you will not like the new one.

Maybe it depends where you place the Mufflers... mine sounds good with the Mufflers replacing the cats.

Are the new tips available seperatly?

I thought you said you have the old system on your car now. Old Borla = sounds good, new Borla = sounds like a raspy UPS truck. When I bought my present Viper, the new Borla system was on the car. The only thing remaining from it is some piping, that's it. The new tips are double walled slash cut and not nearly as good looking IMHO as the old ones. I installed the stainless steel tips Skip White sells.

Yes, i have the old system, but i replaced the stock cats with a set of mufflers because the car was very loud without cats.

I believe it makes a difference where you place mufflers in a exhaust system.

I am currently installing the new Borla system in my '96. I am also installing headers but deleting the cats while I'm there. I would imagine that with Cats it would definitely too quiet but without the Cats I'm hoping it will be just right. MGH
