Hello again everyone. I wanted to update you all with the new pics of my Diamondback hood design. The hood is still in development, but I was able to build a new prototype and mount it to a viper. Remember, the fender and center cowl sections have both been raised two inches and the custom heat extractor vents are all fully functional. I'd love to get some feedback, good or bad. Thanks for your time guys.

Great job, it looks really cool, but isn't that 2" less visibility for those of us built like F-1 drivers?

Originally I had the 2 inch raise continue all the way to the windshield and the visability was a concern that was brought up. Now, the final version (as in the pics) actually has the cowl taper down to only about a 1/2 inch rise at the very rear of the hood, so the visablitly is now only slightly different than stock.

Also, I have just gotten my GTS factory replica hood in production now as well. I didn't want to flood the forum with pics of that one too so here's a link for anybody interested in seeing that one, oem replica pics

Viper looks like it died??? What happened?

LOL... that viper ended up taking out 3 other cars in the rain (two of the other cars were totaled but everyone was fine)

I like it, the hood gives the Viper a more of a mean look. :2tu:

I like it too, wish there was a pic of it on a one color car to see how it flows.

I would like to see one body color, how much? Give us a ballpark for a painted hood.

looks very menacing :headbang: my only concern would be is it going to have any fitment issues like almost all aftermarket and some oem hoods? i noticed the one in the pic fits pretty flush everywhere

How about dumping the hood speaker depressions and making it smooth all the way to the back.

I like that better than the standard GenII hood, although I still like the GenI smooth look the best.

AviP's idea of ditching the "hood speakers" is an awesome idea...

Hey Avi.. glad to hear from ya agin. I still plan on designing some filler plugs for those hood recessions. When I build them, I'll first build them to fit the factory hoods, and then I'll design some to fit the diamondback. Basically, the pieces will fit right into the cavities and the bodyshop will simply blend them into the existing hood for a seamless look.

So how much more clearance would you get under the hood?

Bigger blower potential???

Take some photo's from the back so we can see how the vents look.

I actually don't have the hood on the car anymore. I had taken it out to jersey (3 hours away) while I was delivering one of my factory replicas. We mounted the Diamondback prototype first just to see it on a car. The vents on this particular hood aren't cut out anyhow, but here's a link to some more pics of it off the car where you can see some different angles. Like I said, the vents aren't cut out in these pics, but it should give you a better idea of what it will look like, more pics

I like it! AND I'm in the market for an aftermarket hood. :)

you'd be looking at a potential 2 extra inches directly above the front of the motor... it just depends on how the underside is formed and that's what I'm working on right now, finishing off the underside design. There will definitely be more clearance.

Good looking hood and I'll meet you and your wolf hybrid "dog" tomorrow!
I just have to see it in person and I need a hood like NOW.

NACA duck looks too close to the front fascia. How about keeping it in the 'stock' location.
The NACA duct actually is in the stock location, but it may just look a little different since it's sitting at a steeper angle towards the front. The hood just begins to grow taller about half way up the NACA duct, so I can understand if it looks like it's positioned differently.

So does that mean there will be more airflow since there is more frontal area?

Where's FE065?
