Well those of you who know me from the NY/CT Chapter of the VCA know how passionate I was about my DLM Supercharged RT. I sold that and wanted to experience the Lambo thing so I bought a 91 Diablo and enjoyed it for 2 years..Put her up for sale only 1 month ago and got many interested parties but finally I got a buyer whos getting their financials together monday and said he is coming in from Seattle, Washington to buy her..Now to replace her I like the 06 SRT coupe but prefer to wait for the 07 V10 Hemi engine which I think is what theyll do. Spoke to Chuck Tator and he thinks the same..So I guess Ill be viperless for a while but hopefully around VOI they will make the announcement and Ill put in the order.

Regards
Adam :2tu:

Get in line. I heard that former Lambo traders will be put at the end of the line. Serves them right. Leaving an American girl for some fluzzy Italian...

Jeff..
I bought the diablo because it was always a childhood fantasy to have one. When the opportunity came up and I did get a good deal on it I took it. As for being a previous viper owner and comparisons these are the few I can give..Now my viper was a DLM level one with intercooler so the viper definitely had much more power...My viper was dynoed at 675 RWHP and 662 TQ..The diablo was 500 at the crank so there is no comparison...However my Diablo would run circles around my 96 RT in handling..Gawk factor was of course Diablo hands down..People would just go wild when they saw one even with Vipers in and around her. The diablo ran great, no issues as far as reliability was concerned. Maintenance was simply and easy, fluid changes, tune up was simple just plugs and wires.. But I did miss the power and torque my viper had and Im just ready to go back to modern technology advantages of new cars...I got out of the car everything I thought I would and more..Enjoyed it and now its time to move on..Back to a Viper..

.Now to replace her I like the 06 SRT coupe but prefer to wait for the 07 V10 Hemi engine which I think is what theyll do.

Well if you wait you might have to wait 2 years until the 2008 model arrives. Dodge may skip a year and there won't be a 2007 Viper.

Good info SRT10. There are some interesting predictions. DC can still surprise us the way they did with the quicker than expected release of the Charger. There is a sense of urgency at SRT because of the Z06. Funny how the Firepower has Roadrunner as a possible name.

I believe that the Firepower is not exactly a replacement for the Crossfire (which was simply a rebodied Mercedes SLK). I think that it is a targeted as a performance/luxury car that is more upmarket, to run against the Jaguar XK, 911, and similar 2+2 higher-end cars, but at 2/3rds the cost.

And one thing for certain is that it won't have a classic musclecar name, as that wouldn't fit with the proposed target market.

I hope that it won't take two long years for DC to build a more powerful Viper. It's pretty well confirmed that there will be a SS model of the Corvette built with over 600HP (as if the C6 Z06 wasn't enough).
So even if the Viper does get it's extra power (which it despareately needs), it still may be behind the Corvette, and whatever becomes the Ford GT's replacement.

I understand that the Viper is in a different class than the Corvette, but in the press (and public) eye now the Viper is definitely not the American king of the hill high performance car that it once was, despite many improvements in the Gen III car.

At the very least (perhaps as a stopgap solution) I think that they should officially offer the Paxton blower as a factory option.

Regardless, the Diablo is definitely a rare, exotic, supercar. And it would definitely be a treat to have owned one for 2 years.:D

Hopefully, the more powerful Viper will be announced shortly, and will come out next year. And you will get on the top of the buyer's list.

Funny how the Firepower has Roadrunner as a possible name.

Since retro is "in" wouldn't it be great to see the Roadrunner again!

I think that would be unlikely since the RoadRunner was a Plymouth not a Dodge. How about a Super Bee?

Did someone say Super Bee?

Auburn Hills, Mich., Jan 9, 2006 -

"A pair of names familiar to many automotive enthusiasts are again part of the Dodge performance lineup with the return of the Super Bee nameplate for the 2007 Dodge Charger SRT8 and the “TorRed” exterior color for the 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T."
