congrat's on viper!!! as for service, good luck in this area(i'm from blackwood,nj). while hunting for my '96 gts,i did some research on where to take it for maintance. for a complete checkup,i took it to chuck tator in n.y. state(about 3 hrs. from you). well worth the trip for major service or repairs. honest, good guy and more important, know's the viper inside out and treats it with care. as for regular oil changes,i'm going to do it myself unless i find someone who know's that metal lifts and painted surfaces can't come in contact with each other!!! lol :bonker:

I was afraid of that. I drove over to a local Dodge dealer last night to see if they looked like a good prospect to work on my car and they acted like they had never seen a Viper before. Didn't give me a lot of confidence. In all fairness, the service department was already closed and I didn't get a chance to talk to the service manager. I'll withhold judgement till I do that. Need to find out if they have any trained Viper techs.

Mark, Cherry Hill Dodge seems to sell quite a number of SRT 10s. In the area, they seem to be the only dealer that has several new Vipers. Another choice although about 45 minutes from your location is Fred Beans Dodge. I use Fred Beans with great results. They have completed several oil changes for me and installed a Corsa Track Exahust system that I purchased from Bill Pemberton and Woodhouse. There are some others in our area that I would stay away from. I sent you a PM in that regard. Another option is Buhler Dodge in Eatontown NJ. They are a large dealer and it seems many have had good experiences with them. Good luck and congrats on the Viper. Good to hear about another owner in the general area.

Turbo63, could I also have your "stay away from" list?

I am in somewhat of a bad spot because the dealer right up the street from me (which had a Viper tech) closed. Although they weren't perfect, they were great to deal with... I would always being my own oil/parts and they were cool just charging for labor.

Now, my next closest option is Barbera. The conventional wisdom on Barbera is that although their sales dept is shady at best, their two Viper techs are generally pretty good.

I've only taken my Viper there once, for a driveline clunk. While they did indeed fix the problem, the car had 6 extra miles on it when I picked it up, which wouldn't raise any concern in a rural setting, but if you know the Roxborough area, with all the traffic it takes like an hour to go six miles, so I'm not so sure I was comfortable with that.

Also, in an attempt to be nice, they sent my car over to the prep area to be washed after it was done. However, the guys applied some pretty nice swirl marks that I've never been able to completely get out.

Chuck Tator is indeed the man, and I'd love nothing more than to have the means to just ship the car up to him any time it needed to be touched. But alas, no such luck. ;)

Dick Greenfield Dodge, Princeton/Trenton is your best bet here. About 30 miles north on 295 off onto Route 1, South bound. They have a 24 hour parts department and service. No need to travel across the whole state and rack up the miles on your car.

I heard that the Dodge dealer on Rt1 and 452 in Lima (can't remember the name) has a pretty good Viper Tech. I do not know for sure first hand and I know they do not sell that many Vipers so I am sure they do not work on many but that neccesarily does not mean they are not good.
Matt, talk to the owner of Tom Jones restraunt in Brookhaven, he gets his Vipers serviced there all the time from what I hear. I am sure he could tell you about his experiences better than me. Hope this helps.

I figured if I get one I would have to go to Tator or Buhler if the above did not work out.

96GTS, I thought that I was the only VCA member and one of the only owners any where in the South Jersey area, let alone Blackwood. I just moved to Blackwood about 3 months ago and definitely have not seen you or your car around. Where at in Blackwood are you? I'd be interested in getting together. Maybe showing the locals what real cars are!

As for your question Valentine, I have struggled with the same thing myself. I haven't taken my car anywhere yet, but I have heard lot's of good things about Buhler. They have their annual beach bash in Sandy Hook and it is something that you definitely have to go to.

The Dealership in Lima Pa. Rt1 and 452 is Weathers Dodge. Small dealership but very friendly. I take my 04 there for service and their Viper Tech takes meticulous care of the vehicle. I was panicking when i bought the car because i couldnt find a tech in the general area. Was shocked that Weather Dodge had one because of how small they are. Very good people overall and honest.

Thats the one. So the tech there is pretty good like I have heard. That is good news since I hated the idea of buying a Viper and having to drive hours to get it serviced. What type of work have you had done by them?

Weathers is actually a lot closer than where I have go to get a good vette tech, Steve at Bryner Chevrolet is about 1 hour away from me.

Hey Frank, good to hear from you!

I'm very happy to hear the nice comments about Weather's... I didn't even know they had a Viper tech. I will have to try them out, as they are not far from me at all.

I do oil changes myself, since I have a lift. But anything major, you have to make the hike to South Salem,NY and see Chuck Tator... Dont play with Cherry Hill Dodge... In all fairness to them, they just dont work on a lot of these cars.

Whats happening Matt. Let me know how you make out, if I make the move this is where I would have to go. I would be a lot more comfortable getting one knowing I do not need to go all the way to Buhler or the Wizard in NY for service.
