I am wrapping up a '04 with a set of my heads, a custom ground cam, and a novi 2000 and I finally got to make a few baseline pulls Saturday. I made a very mild timing curve on pump gas (93 octane) on 11 pounds of boost and it laid down 841 and 812. I will try to get back to it this week and turn it up. I haven't pulled it past 5200 rpm, pulled it anywhere near the powerband of the cam, or turned on the nitrous yet. The hp curve is straight up when I lift...I am hoping for 900 on the motor and over a 1000 on the spray. Anyway, I just thought some of you srt guys would be interested in the latest project.
See ya,
Joe

Nice numbers! If you don't mind me asking, what all have you done to the bottom end?

Joe- Just be careful if you didnt upgrade the bottom end. If you havent seen first hand the bottom end of an 04+, it is quite scary. I wouldnt trust the components in a Supercharged Lawnmower, let alone a Supercharged Race Car for the Street...

To quote the companies that made all of the custom internals for the VS-1500TT;

"These came out of a WHAT?!?!?"

Hey guys,
The car has a set of Diamond pistons and Oliver rods. I will be testing the limits of a stock crank...I have heard some stories about breaking the crank snouts, but I have been lucky so far. I have done several others with the numbers well into the 700s and one over the 900s. This car here should see between 14 and 16 pounds of boost at 6200-6400 rpm and then add a touch of spray to it. On race gas this thing should make some killer numbers...the guy still has the factory tires and wheels, so I am not sure what he is going to do with all the power we are making now. It should be a real blast to drive!!!
Later,
Joe

Well, I got to spend a few more minutes on the car tonight. I worked on setting the idle, cruise, tip in, and decel circuits and drove the car around for a bit to see how it drove. My short term addaptives were at + 2 percent from idle to 2800 rpm and drove like a stock car. We strapped it down and I turned on a second fuel pump at 3 pounds of boost to pull some of the injector timing out to flatten the air fuel curve. I wasn't trying to make anymore power, I was just trying to get a 11.8 flat line air fuel reading. I ended up making 864 and 841. I am in the middle of a residential neighborhood so I can only make pulls so late in the evening. I am going to start rolling in the timing next now that I can run the air fuel to 10.0 and I have the drivability real close. I think I should be able to hit 900 + to the wheels the next time I start on the car. After that I have a small shot of nitrous just to get a number...the car is almost impossible to drive at WOT on 19 inch pilots now. It melts the tires at the tip of the throttle !!!
I'll keep you posted,
Joe

Joe: are you using a Vec2 or some other software to tune the PCM? I understand SCT is working on viper software tuning package and should be out this fall.

418viper,
I am using a vec 2 on this car. I didn't know about sct working on a viper package. Hp tuner told me they are in the works also. The hp software is awesome, I have it for all of my ls1, ls2, and ls7 cars. It seems like there is not a big enough demand for v-10 software for most companies to spend the r&d time and money on. I wish there were some more inexpensive choices for use for a viper. The HP software is $300 and I can tune as many of that model and year as I want...not quite the same as a AEM or a Motec.
See ya,
Joe
