Hello all, I\'m new here!

I just wanted to say Hello to everybody. I was not really in the market for a Viper but happened to run across one so i snatched it up. I bought it from an Auto Auction in Houston so I really don't know any history on it. Its a 98 GTS red w/white stripes, has the 650R Venom package w/exhaust and Wilwood brake setup.

GREAT VIPER! :D What is your serial number? Where are you located? I recommend you put your's on a dyno and check the A/F ratio. If you are running lean get a VEC2 and a tune. Here's some pics of my Venom 650R. PM me if you want to with any questions.

Welcome and Congrats Gregory! :2tu:
If you want a little history on your new Viper, e-mail or call me with your VIN# and I'll run it on DC's data base. [email protected] 914-763-3136

Well, I have bad news. I really appreciate everyones warm response. I did not research buying a Viper. But I already knew JH was a thief. When I was at the auction I called HM to get some info on this car and he wouldn't even get on the phone, he told the secretary to tell me I would have to bring the car in and have it inspected to verify it's authenticity. FINE ! WHATEVER! So I bought it anyway. Then I called him back and told him I now owned it, still he didn't care. I presumed he wanted the car so he could strip the parts that I did not know was on the car. Then I came to this website and researched a lil more and decided that if anything were to happen to the car I would not be able to bring it to him, I didn't like the idea of not having a honest mechanic. Long story short, I sold the car today. The guy is a total waste of our space but damn that car was fast! My hat is off to you guys. I will keep my eyse peeled for another.
Am I still welcome on the Forum or must I quietly exit?

Personally, I think you were a little overly expectant and not very patient. JH doesn't owe you anything for buying a previously owned Venom. There is no way he could have authenticated the car without seeing it. He could have done that in a short time with you there since you don't trust him and decided to prejudge him without dealing with him firsthand. With your negative attitude toward him I can only imagine how inappropriate you were on the phone and if I were JH I would have told you to F*** off. If it was authentic you lost a good one. Guess you better change your Board user name. I don't know why you would want one associated with JH's Venoms in the first place or why you would have bought a Venom for that matter.

His cars are way overpriced to begin with...Hopefully you didn't pay or lose too much...You could have a stock Viper outfitted by Tator with Roe parts and be faster for less than 1/2 the $$$$$$$$$.

Difference is you would be forced induction not normally aspirated. I'll take the power characteristics and bulletproof reliability of authentic Venom NA power.

I understand your hostility in my decision seeing you own a Venom but I can assure you that I had nothing but respect and patience on the phone with his secretary. Lets also remember that at that time I was not PRE-judging him, I was JUDGING him! All I was asking him to do is pull the build sheet so i could tell what he had done to this particular car, I told him that I would be responsible if the guy before me had taking something off. I just wanted an idear of the car, please remember, from the time I arrived at the Auction I had only about an hour to make the decision of weather or not I was goning to buy that or or any other car. I miss the car but I did make a quick 10K, thanks JH!!!!

Re: Hello all, I\'m new here!

I doubt that JH keeps "build sheets" records of his cars after the 3 year warranty period he provides. It is the owner's responsibility to keep his copies to authenticate his/her Venom to future buyers. That is why he needed to SEE the car. The fact that he offered to look at it for you should have taken care of your concerns. Why you didn't just go by his shop was your decision. The fact you made $10K only indicates that whoever bought it values a Venom and JH's performance reputation more than you. I'm not hostile I just think you exersized poor judgement and decision making. And since you did not let JH inspect the car you PREjudged him not judged him.

Your logic is waaaaay outta line. Granted Tuners don't know the first thing that happens to a car once it leaves the shop, but a build sheet and a couple 'o pics on the 'puter for a quick frame of reference??? What are we talking here? A couple of megabytes for a quick refresher?

Your response was stupid. That said, I DO like that Venom of yours and would like to see pics of the motor beneath the hood.

Cheers,

Jay K.

Re: Hello all, I\'m new here!

This is a very strange thread.... I hate to even post on it, as It really needs to just die. But I have to say, you said you bought the car at Auction in Houston...why not just drive over to [******] and let him take a look? And to assume that he just would look at your car to steal parts off it is ludicrous.

Anyway, I was going to welcome you to the Venom club....but now, there is no need!

Regards,

"or must I quietly exit?"

your above question is your best choice, just my .02 of course.

People welcomed you, Tator stepped up and volunteered his services, DevilDog was excited and posted Pics for you to see/compare, and in the end, all you wanted to say was that you made a quick 10k. Not cool.

I'm with DevilDog on this one. Of course, Jarheads have to stick together anyway, right Marine ?
