I am on the fence if I want to have a Paxton supercharger installed before I go to VOI9.More HP will be a lot more fun to play with at the event then stock. I have been wanting to mod it for awhile but figured I should pay the car off first.
(What I would really like to do is get a 1000+ HP twin turbo installed , but then I wouldn't be able to get a 2008 coupe when they come out . Also thier is nobody local to do that system so I would have to ship the car to the states . Which would be more costs to come up with.)
I haven't seen a SRT Coupe in person yet and I feel that when I do I will probably want to get one when the 2008's come out . Not sure if financially I will be able to have both by the time the 2008 comes out . If I mod my car heavily I wont be able to for sure .
The 2008 models are still a ways away so 15 grand in mods with a supercharger and exhaust could help pass the time . Just not sure if I would have an easier time selling the car (if that is what I'm forced to do ) with the mods on it. Or keeping the car all original . Right now its a 2000 steel grey ACR with 3200 miles .
What do you guys think any suggestions or opinions greatly appreciated.

Trying to sell a highly modified car isn't easy. You end up narrowing your pool of potential buyers significantly. You will also lose a large percentage of that money invested into the modifications once you sell.

Keep it stock.

I can attest to this. I'm currently selling my 350Z on Ebay. The car is turbocharged, return fuel-system, etc. I'm fully expecting to lost about 75% of the cost of the mods, and the pool of buyers who want to buy a car with voided warranty, increased risk and future maintenance costs, etc. is quite small.

So not only will you lose money on the mods (big money), you'll narrow your market. I know when I was shopping for my Viper, I ruled out any F/I'd car. If you're concerned about resale, (as CROM said), keep it stock.

Another option is to add the Paxton and exhaust for +/- $10K. Drive it for a few years while enjoying the power. Then take the Paxton back off, sell it for $5K. Sell the car in stock condition and start shopping for a new Viper.

No telling what will be available from Viper in 08. You might just wish to keep driving your supercharged GTS for a while.

(Converted prices to US$).

Modifications to your Viper is to customize to your own personal desires. Do not expect it to be a good financial decision, but a great gratification.

You guys are right I just have to convince myself its the smart thing to do If I want to get a new coupe . I just finally paid everything off , house, car , truck. So the next thing I usually want to do when I get out of debt is put myself back in . If I am not in debt I don't seem to be happy. :) But maybe I can put the money towards a new coupe and then keep the Gts. By the time the car comes out I could have the money saved up to pay for most of it in cash .

Depends on the mods. A heavily modded car is very hard to sell and once it sells you do not get nearly what you put into it but if it is something you want and can afford to do it, I would say go for it.

Hinder, IMO

I don't think you can ever get mod money back, you have to enjoy it for yourself.

But I must say, a Steel Gray ACR, is a very low production and great looking Viper. I bet it would fetch a big dollar if you gave it the time for the right buyer to find it.
I for one, if in good condition, would give you your asking price if I had the means and garage space.

Thank you very much. So far, it's not what I'm hoping for, but the bidding usually pics up in the last few hours (I hope!)

Lucky it's not 125% of the mods. Many highly modded cars sell for way less than stock. That's why it always pays to undo your mods and sell these S/C's etc separately. Just takes time and money, two things people selling anything don't typically have, and why modded cars are a buyer's market.

I like the 350. I hope u dont get screwed by who ever bids on it. When I sold my civic, I had 3 winning auctions with buyers that did not pay. I guess the fourth time was the charm.

As far as the modification is concerned, i say go for it. Your bank account may hate you, but your right foot will LOVE you!

No, because I'm not going to sell it. My mods are worth every penny.

(If I would have to sell it, I would get a horrendous beating due to the mods.)

Change the shiter knob and stereo buttons, those wount affect anything...

LOL I agree
Buy now think later
I will do some light mods the Paxton charger , exhaust and short throw shifter . Then if I decide I have to sell , I can remove the super charger .
Hopefully I never have to sell it . Never thought I would ever think about it when I bought it . Its my favorite combo , ACR , steel gray .

The 350 is definitly a nice car . Wish you the best of luck selling .

SC setups won't bring back what you spent, most likely 40-50%.

A Heffner TT on the other hand, will bring back ALOT more! :2tu:

In general, it does depend on what mods you choose, and who did them. It also depends on the time it takes to get the mods. If you have to wait 4 months to get your car in and modded, well, some people don't want to wait.

On the SC, I would say get it and enjoy the Heck out of it. If you can swing a TT setup, get it ASAP, and you'll be spending more, but you'll be getting a higher percentage of it back.

Depends on the buyer - For me, mods hinder my buying it unless it is done exactly like I want. If you find the buyer that likes exactly what you've done, you can do okay.

Yep, I sold a FI'd '04 350Z back when I bought my Viper, actually did an in/out at the dealership. It's a limited market once you have big mods, but the right buyer will pay for what they are looking for. I got out of the 350 almost 2 years ago, so they were still a pretty sought after car. I got 30k out of it, so I was happy.
