Anyone done any testing on Edelbrock vs B&B headers? I am looking at possibly a heads/cam package for my Gen 1 Roe and I currently still have stock exhaust manifolds.

If anyone has any used ones(1 3/4), let eme know.

Edelbrocks have an issue. In an effort to ease installation they use a mid-flange set-up that has all five tubes going to one-half of the mid-flange and all five continuing after the mid-flange. Problem is that with five tubes exerting different twisting forces on their respective flanges, and given the high heat, the mid flanges warp and will no longer hold a gasket. My car had Edelbrocks on it when I got it and over the eight inch or so distance of each mid flange they were warped around a sixteenth of an inch! Even more in some spots. Once this happens you should be able to grind the flanges flat and be confident they will stay put since the already moved, but the process is a PITA.

Wow, how many miles did that take to occur? Anyone else have that problem with Edelbrocks? Mine have been fine thus far.
Is this the CARB-certified set they sell?

Not sure how many miles the headers were on my car, but I can say that the front corner of the fresh air box had been melted enough to cause a small hole. Not sure if some sort of rich condition led to high heat which led to the mid-flange warpage and the plastic injury, or if the leakage of the mid-flanges after warpage allowed hot air to escape and injure the plastic. In any event, the mid-flanges were cupped into a shape that would never seal.

Iv'e heard of a few people having gasket/flange issues but Iv'e got 28400 miles on mine without any problem. I think the problem could be the flange bolts aren't tightened equally or enough. Some of the bolts are hard to get a wrench on.

Edelbrocks for the last 31,000 miles. Put down 429 rwhp (original and only mod at the time) on my 95. I have never had a problem with these even with the blower.

I have a Roe supercharger with Edelbrock headers and other mods over700rwhp. No problems ever. Like it was stated, probably improper installation.

I'm sure this has been answered but what kind of power are Edelbrocks going to add on a 10lb. Roe w/ water and **** 3" exhaust w/ no cats, K&N intake kit. I can get the headers for around 1350 and I'm trying to decide if they're worth it. Thanks in advance

I've heard they add about 20HP to a stock engine. I would think the primary advantage for SC system would be in flow-through. You're moving so much more fuel-air through the system, it has to go somewhere, so they will probably enable the SC system to make quite a bit more HP than without them. Really, the other parts of the system will determine your WHP; the Edelbrocks just keep from limiting it as much.

Thanks jdoc7 and AGR98RT10 for the responses. I'm willing to get them for 20 or more rwhp. I put 617rwhp (sae cor) with Seans base card for water/****.
