I just recently purchased about 450 dollars worth of interior mods, and the only problem I have is with the 24 dollar radio knob. I taked to Jon via email and he responded call MGW!!! I buy all the parts from Jon and now its my responsibiity to call the manufacture, I dont think thats right, He should of handled it a little differently. Im not going to loose sleep over 24 dollars, but I was planning on buying belanger headers and belanger cat back from Jon, but I will now buy elswhere. Im sure Jon meant nothing by it, But it was not my cup of tea experience!! .02 But if Jon wants to give me credit for the Radio knob, I might consider buying the exhaust from him.

Y'know, I've been enjoying this thread, because it's entertaining and illustrative of all the vagaries of human nature reflected in the marketplace, but this one's got me scratching my head. Jon is supposed to "make good" on a 24 dollar radio knob he didn't manufacture??? He probably makes a grand total of two-fiddy profit on that item, and you want him to give you credit back on the purchase price, then handle the exchange for you with MGW???? This just boggles my mind. Have you ever run a business?? A paper route, even?? If I order a set of Kumhos from Jon, and he drop ships them from Tire Rack, saving me 5 per cent, maybe on the deal, he makes a few bucks by getting the wholesale price from Tire Rack. Does that gigantic profit margin then mean I want Jon to credit the Tire price back to me when one of them is defective??

FWIW, when I got my MGW stuff, I just called them direct, and they were great to deal with. I'm sure if you call them they will mail out a new part that day. And I'm sure Jon wouldn't mind someone bypassing him and going direct to MGW on a 24.00 purchase - not like he's losing that much moolah, but expecting him to spend his personal time to troubleshoot the item having a problem is a bit much, don't you think?

Sorry, disagree. The guy didn't buy it from MGW he bought it from Jon B. Jon has the responsibility to make it right, he should contact MGW and get the issue resolved, it's not the customers problem.
And yeah, I run a busines that is Internet based, that's how we would handle it and do handle it on manufacturers defects. You don't base customer service on the dollar amount spent.

I guess that's where I see Jon B as a special case, then. He's "one of us," a fellow Viper enthusiast, and I will support his business by throwing him "loose change" in the form of a battery tender I bought from him, for example, rather than to some bigger company like Walmart, maybe some MGW stuff, etc., because I know he can use the business. I personally don't expect him to cut into a razor-thin profit margin on such items to provide after-purchase service on something that small. Anyway, that's the deal with Jon, either you like him and value his support of the Viper community and accept his approach or not. Guess it's personal preference.

KW then sent us new shocks, which DOUG tried to install then we realized there are some things wrong with the kit. We spoke to KW and so did Doug. They were shocked and said this is a defective batch that went out."

Let's see. Your business sells KW shocks. Doug did not witness the install or see the shocks before the install at the aftermarket wheel place. Doug notices that there are things wrong with the second kit provided by KW and KW says it must have been a bad batch. I stand by my observation. If you had let Doug do the initial install, you would not have had the problem. He would have noticed the defect in the initial set. You can continue to insist that your after market wheel place knew what it was doing or admit the obvious truth that it was not wise to bring your Viper there for a suspension modification in the first place. An admission that most reasonable individuals would have made many posts before now. Good luck with your new suspension.

Hi Doug. Good luck to you on the install. If you need any additional parts as you work on YellowViperSRT 10's car, I highly recommend that you give JonB at Partsrack a call. His prices and attention to shipping detail are outstanding.

Good morning all, surprised this is still going on, its not yet 8am on the west coast and wanted to check into one of my favorite sites before I started doing more damage in my shop. On this particular thread, this will be my final comment. (Wow, just heard a collective sigh of relief and had a visual of 'bout time and rolling eyes from all of you).

Oh, that quote button. Thanks, already knew about it, just didn't suite my purpose at the time.

The gentleman, Viper enthusiast, and JonB customer that I quoted has it dead on. Takes me 5 pages of being too verbose (must come with age..Old Guys Rule) as someone pointed out earlier and here it is so concisely.

I've dealt with Jon and have to give him the thumbs up. Did what he said and his check beat the return receipt request form back to me.

Everyone gets teed off and often tee off others, it's all about overall performance and I think Jon B has stood the test of time.

Must have been a busy day on Jon's end, I would certainly give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

WOW "What a bunch of [******].

Neal, do you live in a bubble operated by angles?

Jon B has contributed his time and $$ to the Viper community to many times to count. He has driven hundreds of miles to support VCA charity events.

Neal, before throwing stones get out of the galss bubble, and please let us know your contributions to the VCA family.

I understand where you are coming from, But I ordered multiple item totalling around 450.00 dollars and the radio knob being the least expensive at 24.00 dollars, and yes I would expect him to take care of it, even though it's a small dollar item from a big dollar purchase. But when he tell me CALL MGW, that make me think, I should of went to MGW in the first place and cut out the middle man, which is what I will do next time. I too own a business a(communication company) and if I sell a customer a Nortel phone, and there happens to be a problem, Im not going to tell the customer CALL NORTEL. What kind of business practice is that.

LMFAO! He quite possibly may be the best man on the face of the earth. Unfortunately he was extremely rude to me and I can honestly say I never spoke to anyone like that in my life when I was trying to buy something. END OF STORY. I am sorry some of you cannot face the fact that he treated me differently then how he treats some of you. Just because this guy may know a lot of stuff or even donate a million dollars to VCA does not change the way he treated me. I wish he did treat me nicer so I would go threw him. I think your the one that needs to come out of that bubble and face reality Fred. Sometimes I know it is hard for people to face the truth with someone they love/like. Perfectly normal and I understand that.

Obviously there are some people that had a bad experience with him before it seems from this thread as well.

So your saying just because he has done the above, that gives him the right to be rude to customers. Maybe you should get out of your glass bubble!! This thread had nothing to do with contributions, all the poster (Neil) was doing was trying to buy or potentially buy some springs and shocks but wanted a little more info before makeing the plunge.

What in the name of God does that have to do with the original post which was about his phone attitude and they way he dealt with this particular customer?

Wow, think of all the money Jon B. must save in toilet paper---ever time he takes a dump someone in a VCA windbreaker is there ready to lick his balloon knot clean.

Nothing against Jon, he can run his business how he likes, but for people to say---oh, he's a sponsor, he gives money to the VCA, so don't say anything bad about him is RIDICULOUS.

In business you'll have customers that have good experiences with you and customers that have bad experiences. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, but I don't think any businessman in his right mind would believe that sponsorship or donation would serve as an insurance policy against anyone reporting bad experience or having ill will. I don't think Jon believes that and although I'm sure he's thrilled to have the nutswingers, you guys sound totally ridiculous from an outsiders perspective.

looks like he chooses not too respond!!!!!!

Of course he is not going to respond! Duh!

He has his sheep making excuses for him, and he gets all this free press. There, I am guilty of perpetuating his free advertising.

He was a **** with me also. He has been compared to Wall Mart, I could not agree more. Poor service and cheap prices. I also will not shop at Wall Mart, I don't care how cheap they sell Mobil One.

Can we all just let this ****** thread die? It has really just become a pedastal for some to voice their opinion about one companies customer service. Who the [******] cares if a vendor was rude. Did he do you an injustice by selling you faulty equipment? Did he not stand behind his product and honor a warranty? No! This has just become a ***** session about how someone was spoken to on the phone.

Disregard what I just typed, I am well on my way into a good bottle of booze!

looks like he chooses not too respond!!!!!!

What need is there for him to respond? This has been beat to death for YEARS. Anyone who comes here and learns the names JonB and PartsRack should ALSO have read all the good/bad surrounding those names. Everyone wants to compare their experience to the last time they got a haricut, or ordered a pizza, or had their teeth cleaned. THOSE are all ordinary evolutions.....NOTHING to do with the Viper is "ordinary", which is why we have them. Too bad for those who might think they should be treated differently (yet the same) because they own one.

I've known Jon for years.....been to his house, broke bread, got goddies even, I consider us good friends...and you know what....I get treated like crap at times too. Life goes on, since he is a friend I accept his personality "as-is"...like friends do. You might say he is NOT a friend, but rather a business? Well, yeah...he does run a business.....but it is more of a friendly relationship. Last time you went to get your tetth cleaned....did the doc throw in a free crown simply because he knew you needed it? No? Oh, maybe that is because THAT is a business.

Do all the little things Jon does make up for, or even justify, his personality? Each person must answer that for themself. When I want something, I call Jon and tell him. He says:

"Same address?"

Yep

"Same credit card"

Yep

"Be there in xx days"

Everything going well out there in the great PNW?

"Yep...gotta go, got another call holding! Great talking to ya'"

Thanks Jon....bu-bye.

When I call him and wanna chat, get free technical assistance, or simply [******]....I am on HIS schedule, I know that going in.

Too bad the guy had a bad experience! Even worse is...Jon likely did not realize it and would gladly make it right....but the guy had to post here instead of doing the mature thing.

That's about as well as it can be said. But there is another side, I call it the Robin Hood side of Jon when a Viper owner is really in trouble. I called him two months ago when I crashed the car, the first thing out of the insurance guys mouth was the salvage value is 24k. Who do you think I called next....? After talking to Jon for AT LEAST A HALF HOUR ON A MONDAY no less, what do you think the insurance company gave me when I applied the words and logic and backup he gave me? $62,000 on a 2000 GTS. Did he kid me during the conversation that he checked the computer and I had not bought anything in years? Yes, but in the case of a Viper owner in really serious deep doo doo who was not only getting screwed by the insurance company, but heartbroken about his car, he hung with me for a half hour, he put me on hold a few times, actually quite a few but was always back in 30 seconds, I wonder how much business he lost during that half hour or how many other guys he ********** because he chose to HELP someone with no $ gain. And not only did he get me my money, he talked me out of trying to fix the car with Viper economics 101. And that Viper economics logic led me in two days to a pristine exact duplicate replacement of my crashed car with only 1500 miles on it for LESS than the insurance company gave up. And I know I'm not alone with that kind of story.

While you were on the phone with him, some guy called about some Motons. :)

Ages ago, when I bought something from John, I made up my mind what I wanted, THEN I called. Thats the protocol. (Although he still suggested things to save me trouble) Do your research on the net, decide what you want, then call Parts Rack for great pricing and quick delivery. Then call your mom and chat at great length about what a great deal you got.
