Last night I raced for the 1st time on drag radials. What a difference! With more practice I know I can do better, but I ran 11.3@123mph. Awesome!! I ran a 1.6 second 60 foot time for all 3 runs. I'm running the NITTO555 drag radials.
With a little more practice I think I can hit 11.0-11.1. Time will tell, but for now I'm very happy!

Pretty decent 60'....times will come down the more you practice. Congrats!

Re: More practice

I can't wait to get back on the track. My only concern is I don't have a cage in my car and I've heard they won't let you run below 11.5 without one.

Re: More practice

Your time is pretty good, and with 545RWHP i would say a 11.0-11.1 e.t. is definitely possible for you......but the 123MPH trap speed seems a little off/weak for 545RWHP* Did you short shift or granny shift it after the launch or something? Maybe it was a really hot day or a higher altitude strip? With 545rwhp you should be trapping between 126-129MPH.

Re: More practice

I thought my mph should be higher also. Before this GTS I had a 2000 that had headers and exhaust. I ran at 2 different tracks and ran a 12.2@118mph at one, and a 12.3@115mph at the one I raced at Friday night. Why the difference I'm not sure.
As far as my launch rpm, I'm not sure either. I do it by sound and feel. I hold the rpm's up to maybe 2,500 and ride the clutch very little through the mesh then hammer it floored for a hard smooth launch. I shift at 6,000rpm's and cross the line in 4th at close to 6,000rpm's.
My mods are: HRE547 wheels, 3.55 gears, 1.7 roller rockers, B&B headers, high flow cats, Borla cat back with muffler delete in the rear, Paxton Novi2000 S/C, drilled rotors, eibach springs, and now NITTO555 Drag Radials(335/30ZR18). Heffner put the Paxton at low boost for now to be safe with the cast pistons.

Re: More practice

I would normally say there is something serious wrong in the tuning then...but since you said Heffner installed the paxton kit that would be impossible, lol. :) So if your Viper is anywhere close to sea level it must of been REALLY hot outside (over 100+f) with no cool down before your runs combined with a bad head wind slowing you down a little and soft driving on your part to boot. (just thinking of reasons here, no pun intended)
...A GTS with the mods you have at 545RWHP should trap close to 130MPH***

Re: More practice

The elevation is 600-650ft above sea level and the temp was in the 80's. This track does run to the west so if there was a breeze it would be against you. I still need more practice also!

Re: More practice

Sorry, the track actually runs East. There shouldn't be much of a head wind.

Re: More practice

I might go for another try this coming Friday, 7/21. Maybe I can get a little better trap speed, and if I don't get kicked off maybe 11.0 or 10.99. Any one interested in going to Mason Dixon in Hagerstown, MD?

Re: More practice

My last time was 11.5/128 on Michelin with 1.7 at 60.
However my acceleration was very poor at higher rpms in 3rd and 4th gear. My viper is suppossed to provide 600RWTQ but i only got 450rwtq above 4000rpm. I poorly setup my ignition and W/M ....

I was too much happy with my 1st and 2nd gear shift and acceleration and I forgot to tune my VEC2.

I could have hit 11.0 and 135 ... I have been thinking about this for days
