Do any of you remember the a$$ who came on the site around 6 months ago with the idea that people would pay to smash up a Viper? He would sell advertising space in a website and make videos of people damaging the viper for you. Well, we all predicted that he would lose a bundle and he insisted he would become a millionaire. A quick update shows that the website still exists and he has sold only 6000 spaces out of one million. That's $6000.00 in income for destroying a very nice Gen1. It felt good to see that people have more sense than that! :bonker:

That's one Business I was glad to see fail. :2tu: Only around 5000 GEN Is where made no telling how many are left. Smashing a piece of automotive history makes absoulutly no sense. :evilmad:

IF I can sell a million spots, and IF I can get "x" amount of dollars for each one, then I'll be a millionaire easy...

Could you imagine if you approached a banker with that business plan? He'd show you to the door-

If you really want to get ticked off go to his web site and watch him interviewing kids as young a 9-10 or so as he lets them key the car. He says..."Have you ever keyed a Viper before?" Like it's the coolest thing on earth. That's great, get young kids interested in keying cars, just beyond understanding.

I am glad that he did lose money. Too many people out there are already prone to vandalize our rides already and they do not need any more encouragement from idiots like that.

dont get me started.

we could write a book on everything that was wrong from the start.

but they thought they were smarter than everyone on this forum, and on the alley forum, who tried to convince them that it didnt make sense, and was destined to fail with almost certainty.

FOR HEAVENS SAKE, ATLEAST CREATE YOUR OWN BANDWAGONS. dont jump on one that is starting to go over a cliff.

i still to this day dont understand why you need $1M to open a bar.

Since his site shows 2 Vipers, one for smashing and one for not, I'd wondered if the abused Viper was a wreck he'd bought cheap somewhere..

I know one of the guys involved in that project. From what I understand, they have fully repaired the car and it looks/runs great, even with something like 120K miles on the odometer.

While I will admit that it was a strange idea to raise money, I don't see how it makes them a-holes, or whatever. I wasn't privy to their original threads about it here, so I don't know what impression they left, but it's just a 'gimmick'. I don't get all the harsh responses here.

It was something like that. I think they paid something like $24K for the car.

Well, while I can't believe I'm going to say it (especially on this particular forum), in the grand scheme of things, it's just a car. They did whatever analysis they did (however wrong it turned out to be) and believed they could make more money than the Viper cost them to purchase. I'll bet if it were a '92 Vette they were smashing up, nobody here would give a crap.

Of course '92 Vettes are a dime a dozen...I'd still think it was a dumb idea, though. I will however admit that a lot of seemingly dumb ideas end up making lots of money.

bean, i think a great deal of the hostility comes from the fact that "they" came to our VIPER-ENTHUSIAST forum, where we express our appreciation and ENTHUSIASM for our cars, and tried to promote the destruction of the EXACT SAME THING we are enthusiastic about, a viper. needless to say many of us felt like we were getting slapped in the face, and it didnt go over very well, here or at the alley. (you think we are/were HARSH? do a search on the threads over there).

many of us were rubbed wrong even further, when "they" repeatedly resurfaced and attempted to promote/ADVERTISE their website and the destruction even further, even after many requests by the members of this forum to cease doing so. (I think they received warnings and/or strikes because of this).

"they" have posted a few times lately, which is great, and the responses indicate that they were welcomed. i am sure that as long as the discussion stays on a positive note, they will be just fine.

That's because there are more vettes made in 1992 than there are Vipers produced ALTOGETHER! Especially Gen1's... 5000 made, prob half that on the streets now. The worst part was he came in here expecting us to applaud his idea like a hero. We appreciate the enjoyment of Vipers here, not the destruction of one.

That makes sense. These guys are Viper enthusiasts too. They just happened to pick one as a marketing tool, with no disrespect intended towards those who love the car.

I understand the hatred of SPAM though, for sure. ;)

I gotcha. I don't think they anticipated it would be taken so personally. The old saying "too close to the trees to see the forest" comes to mind. Oh well, at least all's well that ends well. In the end, the Viper lived.

It was just a plain stupid idea. It doesn't matter if it was a Viper, a Vette or a Civic. It was stupid. In fact, it was unbelievably stupid.

The only way it would have made any money is if he used a cop car. Preferably a Georgia cop car. Specifically one from Tift county.

Not that I have any personal vendetta against Georgia oinkers.

Hey it is my site...

First ill say thank you to kcobean for the somewhat of a backup lol.

The whole site was not intended to put down vipers in any way, I understand I came on this site and showed you guys the idea and tried to explain it but I wasn't expecting the harsh responses. and i regret mentioning it here.

It was a silly business adventure and i had one hell of a time doing it. On top of that i made money, i actually made alot of money on it (open your minds and you might be able to figure it out). So you can diss me all you want and my stupid ideas, I was not trying to be dissrespectful to anyone.

I am a viper enthusiast, I have a early 93 with 20k miles that has never seen rain before. I bought a ****** ass viper with alot of miles and brought it back to life to use it for my marketing tool. If anything I saved it!!! My intentions were to completely destroy it yes.. but it didn't work out like that.

The site failed not because i believe its a stupid idea, its because i do not know anything about marketing and was not going to pay anyone. I wanted to do this entire thing with zero chance of losing any money, and only money to gain. And thats exactly how it worked. The site failed miserably (only to those narrow minded) but it worked perfectly for me. I managed to make a good amount of money with minimum results. I did not make a million but you guys gotta have some business knowledge in you.. if someone makes a good amount of money on something and has a great time doing it... do you really think they are an [******]?

I came on here defending my site at times only because people are narrow minded as i said and can't realize the buisness side of why i was doing it. Noone even tried to figure out any of it, they just saw a viper being keyed and flipped out. I should of saw it coming but i didn't.

I'm only 23.. let a guy be creative!. I'm glad i went through with it obvoiusly, I made enough money to pay off my truck and made a few friends in the process. I also learned a lot and had a great time.

I apologize sincerly if it offended any of you, that was NOT my intentions, I figured most of you would think it was a silly idea and have a good time with it, I was wrong... but like i said... i made money.. you can harsh talk my business skills, but in the end, im going to win that battle :) lighten up! its just a car! a hell of a car, but just a car...
