Must have clear bra area\'s, or places you have gotten stone chips.

I have an installer that can lay it down anywhere I need.

What are the critical area's that you all have experienced stone chips?

How far did you clear bra up the hood?

And does clear yellow on the sills for those that have done it?

This is a 2004.

On a SRT, you should clear bra the following:

*Front Bumper
*Hood - At least 1/4 of the way which is right pass the headlights.
*Side Mirrors
*Side Sills If Desired - Road Debris Is A NIGHTMARE! Happened To Me With A Oil Pan
*Rear Bumper (Prevents Brake Dust Particals From Getting Stuck To Car Which Results In Scratches)

Trust me. It is a great investment, especially the 3M tape.

I dont clearbra my Viper. 12000 miles of actual wear shows:

The Viper has durable paint and a decent sill protecting shape. Black is the worst color for rashing, and it still is not that bad.

Foot scrapes over the top of the side sills are the most noticeable damage. Good idea to protect this area.

First 12" of bottom side sill behind front wheel gets rashed the worst. Good idea to protect this area.

Second worst rashing is the nose, most of it below the headlights. Good idea to protect this area.

Rock chips have appear anywhere on the hood, doors, and mirrors. Even up by the windows. I touch up the worst of these "battle scars" without emotion.

I remember someone mentioning yellowing on white mamba sills. As long as the film spec is good for 180' temps and your not installing on a white car, it should be fine.

Re: Must have clear bra area\'s, or places you have gotten stone chips.

I have chips on the rear edge of the hood, so clear bra would not be effective unless totally covered. I also have some chips on the top of the rear quarter panel and trunk lid. The car is just a chip magnet.

The only place I would use clear bra is the side sills as they chip at a rapid pace versus the remainder of the car. Plus they clear bra is not as noticeable there. I installed clear mud flaps and the Autoform sill splitters to help avoid side sill chips. I believe they have been effective, even with Pilot Sport Cups installed.

I may be in the minority but the clear bra appearance to me is as bad or worse than the chips themselves. Thus I would keep it to low visibility regions and avoid large transitions (like the entire width of the hood).

Make sure you take alook at a Viper that has 3M on its front. The first time I saw one , I thought the car had been keyed with a visible line going across the front. I just don't like the look. I'll take the chips.

Yeah as much as I try to keep my car prestine, it is a car and chips happen. There are very few spots that develop noticeable paint wear that i have accountered.

If there was one spot I would put the 3m tape on isin behind the fron wheels on the underside of the sills. but again that is on the underside of the sill which you can not see without looking under the car.

Hi Newport,

I had my 2003 clear bra'd and love it. I did the top of the sills as well to prevent the scraps getting in and out.

In the event you haven't committed yet, I would suggest T.J. Wallace (714) 350-6070. He works on high-end cars, mdz, lambo's, etc. Also does touch-ups.

Do you ever get down to Crystal Cove on Saturday mornings?

I didn't think they could do the side sills because of the heat ?

Newport, I'd do the following;

1 - Front edges of the front fascia and the entire top of the fascia.

2 - Behind the front wheels on the side sills. Don't need to go too far here.

3 - Hood and lower fenders, 1st 25% or so. This is optional as you will see it.

4 - Behind the rear wheels on the lower quarter panel.

TJ is a good guy and knows his stuff. He did the clear bra on my GTS. Be sitting down when he tells you the price though because this stuff is not cheap.

how viewable is a clearbra on black???
I have the Clearbra on my black SRT, and it's really only noticeable on the side sills. Mine is covered up the sill to right below the Viper badges. I agree on getting the sills covered, there are minor scuffs in the foot area, thankfully the clearbra is there!
:)
My hood isn't covered, but the front bumper, side sills are. You can't notice it unless you are right near the car.
