Just installed an MGW First Strike shifter knob and while it looks great, is shorter than that stock "paddle" I found an added benefit on the way to work today. When I get stopped at a long light I like to put the transmission in neutral and let the clutch out until it's time to go again. The first time that happened this morning I stopped, put it in neutral and let the clutch out and something was different.....that clanking noise when you put it in neutral that is so annoying was gone. I tried it several more times before I got to work and no noise. I'm happy.

I am thinking since the MGW knob is a little lighter than stock that it makes a difference in regards to the noise....I don't know I am just happy it is gone.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I'll have to admit that viper spray is correct. Mornings here are cool here about 45 degrees. In the afternoon when I went home for lunch and the temp was about 85 the noise was back. Hope you're all laughing at the newbie....I am. I'll change to the synthetic the next time I change the oil....thanks for the advice.

Mad - changing the oil will do wonders... I live in a similar climate to you :smirk: and have no rattle at all. Even on the 106 degree day we had a week or so ago.

Let it warm up and your NGR will be back. What you need to do to is switch to synthetic as per the Dodge TSB.

are you talking about engine oil or trans fluid? I thought synthetic trans fluid was bad?
