My car is still at Joe Donovans. I got held up with some issues and had to order some different parts(Long Story). Yesterday he put my car on the dyno for a very short time. The good news is we are at 741hp on pump gas. The bad news is a head gasket blew. I still had the orig. head gasket(96) on the car so it was time to change them anyway. Joe seemed to think that we may be able get 800HP. He said the curvs were awsome. He was amazed to see this type of power out of a gen I. I just wasnt planning on spending MORE money on the head gasket. By the way, I feel very lucky that I decided to go with Joe Donovan. This guy is a class act and very fair. He felt pretty bad about about the head gasket and is giving me a great deal at replacing them.

I would ARP the heads like biggie said. Upgrade the gasket of course...may want to go with a copper thicker gasket to allow more boost at a safer level.

Are your heads still stock? If so, I have a set of custom Gen I heads flowing 320's on the intake (at .600), and I believe 250 on the exhaust(need to find the flow chart to be sure). Just done, PM me if you're in need...............

Also, Joe D knows me and I would be willing to send them to him for inspection for his ok prior to purchase. :2tu:

Vec III? when did this come out? I have the VEC II.
How much did you spend on your custimized PBJ Paxton Kit?

The rumor is that the VEC III has IAT maps. IAT issue was to blame for the V-notch problem. this would help alleviate it. This is what I was told.

Hey guys,
This is a bone stock gen 1 motor...right down to the throttle bodies, manifolds, and rockers. I deleted the cats and made our own cat back exhaust...which sounds very good I might add. Anyway, the car made 740 and 744 at 5700 rpm on 93 octane with NO I repeat no other adders(water, ****, nitrous)with a semi agressive tune. I was about to add the race gas with one more pull to flatten out the air fuel and pushed both head gaskets. With a set of arp head bolts, a set of multilayer metal head gaskets and a splash of 110 I am hoping for 800 at the wheels...we will see. I was a little upset by the head gasket issue, but I am glad it happened at my shop instead of out on the steet to Darrick. It will be back and running by the end of the week, so maybe we will have some good numbers to post soon.
See ya,
Joe

I wonder if its worth upgrading to the VEC 3 if you already have a VEC 2

Give Roe a call. They just updated my VEC II to the VEC III and yes it does come with an IAT Sensor Wire. This must be connected to the PCM and is direct plug and play. The VEC III is available!
