As soon as the dealers start selling this at msrp... I'm getting one! Time to start saving...

hehe, you may be waiting a couple of years :smirk:

Note the "Time to start saving"... It'll TAKE a couple years! Especially since wifey says no new Viper until new house (meaning more expensive house-in san francisco area, a $mil house will get you 2 bedrooms and half a bath). :smirk:

...maybe 3 years ;)

Ah hell, may as well just buy the redesigned 2010 Viper if you're gonna wait that long! :D

No complaint there... unless the gen4 looks like a vette or s2000.

I don't think it is out of line to suggest that if more people wait for what could be rather than what is, that there may not even be a Gen IV. Not a single mention in any of these articles about a Viper beyond this one.

After all, why would DC spend millions of dollars on a totally new platform if the car isn't selling? The majority of the Viper Nation (and public in general) seem to be happy with the current styling, but we asked for a "Z06 killer". And they delivered.

Bottom line: Get 'em while they're hot! :D

While I am happy to see a nice step up in power, I am not a big fan of the hood. Not enough change for me to trade in my current Viper especially when another $7,000 invested gets me to near 700hp.

I see what you're saying, but I think almost the exact opposite. If Vipers weren't selling, I'd think that would BE the reason they went and re-made it.

This isn't really the same comparison, but just for argument's sake....look at the Camaro. Combined sales of the Camaro AND Firebirds were lower than the Mustang alone. So they dropped the Camaro for several years, and the one they're bringing back will blow the doors off the Mustangs and Chargers in that price range.

DC (as well as everyone else) knows how much the Viper is loved. I think a lack of sales would only give them pressure to do MORE with it.

I would wait until the road tests are in before I started braging. I think the vette motor is underrated and the viper motor could be overrated. Time will tell but I still love my viper roadster!
