Just wondering how many people will sell there Gen 3 for the new 08?
I have a guy wanting to buy my 01 GTS. I almost bought the new Gen 3 Coupe but when I went down to buy one I didn't think it look near as cool as my 01 GTS.
The Gen 3 are starting to look pretty good with a price tag of 68.9 going new on ebay. I would like an 08 if the price is not over inflated like the Z06 was.

Not paying MSRP for a Viper so I will wait. Also want to see what they are like first. Does not matter to me to be the first to have it.

Not enough enhancements for me. I will hold mine probably until a completely new design arrives if any. I now am planning on a blower and motons. To me the cost of a new Viper just doesnt make sense since a blower and 650-700 horsepower is just $8000 to $10,000 away.

Same here...I have my answer ready for the "Is this a 2008 viper, soon to be question , No this one is supercharged...
I love the new 08, and I see no negative outcome to any viper from it's upcoming release, I think it's the best thing to happen to the viper nation in a long while... :2tu:

I'm in the final stages of completing the sale of my 3rd gen Coupe. I'm holding off from handing the car over due to the fact Muscle Car Magazine is doing a photoshoot and article on my car this Thursday :) .

Now, whether or not I get an 08 I'm undecided. I was hoping for more enhancements than what I've seen.

Seriously considering selling the 02 GTS to upgrade, if price is around $90k, but not holding my breath for that...

I just hope people wait until the cards hit the table before they go run out and sell their early gen-3's. What if this new engine is very mod-unfriendly? You're going to kick yourself in the ass later if you fire-sold your gen-3 to get it, thats for sure. Not to mention... we dont know how many of these parts will bolt right onto existing components.

Hmm... *IF* the block is the same other than displacement... I see some potential with mixing and matching components...

My SRTC is not going anywhere! The new motor does not seem to be mod friendly...VVT,higher compression, new code in the computer. Not a fan of the new hood either. I am just going to add FI to my coupe and try and get by....haha.

The new engin has been on the street for nearly a year. Viper engineers spend a lot of time on quality control. I don't think that there will be reliability/drivability issues with this engin. Vipers are good quality cars.
They improved a lot over the years.

The only issue that I see are the catalitic convertors. The GEN3 were already very ******* them. I hope there is some improvement on this side.

This Gen4 engin will not be easy to boost due to the high compression.

The only thing left to add to the Viper is a good AMG stability controller with a on/off switch.

If I had the money I would sign up for a 08 Viper ... :(

My '06 will be vapor as soon as (maybe sooner) the '08s hit the ground!

The '08 will hold me over nicely until the next generation comes out.

Dude, really? It seems like you've only had that thing for a minute! So, is this what we can expect from you now, buy a coupe, put stripes and wheels on it, then sell it? LOL. Do it a few more times and we'll have to call you the new "Viper Recycler". :nana:

08 is still a Gen 3 (Dodge hates for us to call it that...sounds too much like Gen.Motors)

Same car, frame, body style and interior. Only the engine has been beefed up (+90 hp), the transmission strengthened, Clutch upgraded to dual disk.Rear end updated limited slip, access for a rear end cooler, interior options without buying Mamba package, better intake, lighter and stickier tires, engine management updated, better intake and headers, shorter throw shifter, and a few other things.

Wonder how much this all would cost if done in the aftermarket.

Might be able to make a case for Gen 3.5.

Interesting note. If this new dual plate, lower diameter, clutch works out well, the next full generation Viper might be able to benefit from a dry sump, and mount the engine even lower for better handling.

I will be selling my 06 Coupe for the 08 coupe, as long as the price does not exceed 100,000. I wonder if the gas guzzler tax is going to be higher or lower.

No Guzzler Tax??? Heard that DC wasn't telling fuel mileage and with the power efficiency increase per Cu.In. of the New engine and VVtiming they didn't want to get in a pssss match with the competition and the HIBrids on mileage. Heard Toyota was interested in the engine for the next Land Cruiser. :nana: :headbang:

It seems like the guys that buy the GenIII are chasing performance over style (just my opinion), and since the cars look similar, I'd be surprised if a lot of people don't trade for the '06 coupe. Why not, its faster?

I think DC is really hurting the GenIII owner because there are still plenty of early vert's and new coupes from GenIII available for new purchase. This new car can't help the used market for the GenIII since it looks identical (minus a few tuner mods). It will be interesting to see how long is takes a nice 2003 to sink into the $40,000 range and 2006 coupe to be 50 to 60.

I buy'em when they are 2 years old. Let others take the biggest hit. I am not a need it now guy.

Nice new car! THANK YOU DODGE!

Same here. I'd buy a 2nd hand in the right color for $70k. Not sure if it would be coupe or vert though.

I'd like to see the black & natural interior.

Why overanalyze this thing. It's a toy. I like Vipers as my car toy, and I'm into living today and not into "waiting" for the perfect (in whose eyes) Viper to come along. It's a new evolution in the Viper line - it's got 600 HP stock, for goodness sake. Yes I'll buy it. Probably keep the 05 as well.

The price of '06 coupes is not going down anytime soon. In fact, they should go up. Here's why: the '08 is quoted by the rags as having 580hp, which is likely 520rwhp. A paxtonized '06 costs you $83-$85 new and easily has 100hp more than that with a conservative tune.

The vvt and higher compression on the new car likely means that you won't be able to obtain similar gains with similar mods on an '08.

People with $ dont care, they will dump the 05s & 06s just to have the latest. Many nice upgrades including the power. Get the latest & greatest. 06 coupes arent holding their value at all. :usa: :usa: :usa:

06 coupes are in the $75K to $85K range depending on model. I will say it again! The 06 coupes will do just fine and I do not see a fall for them from this point because there was only one year of production, thus there are not many of them. 06 coupes will see the original new car hit, from the MRSP down to the $75K to $78K range and hold steady. Some were lucky to buy in new at the post 1st year depreciation price in that $75K to $78K range. Some that had to have the first ones were not and paid full MRSP.

I agree, they may in fact go up because we are all kidding ourselves if we think that anyone is walking out with a new 08' for under $108K minimum (20% more HP equals 20% bigger price) for quite a while. That is a big difference which should keep the 06 coupes healthy for some time.

Unfortunately the 03-06 verts are different because there are more of them. It is simple supply and demand. If they had less, they would be worth more.

Car Magazines are full of crap 90% of the time. They slaughtered our belovide Viper for the past few years, now they come out with a nice report and we forget the past so quickly. I will believe what I see for 08 when Dodge comes out with official statements. Right now 600 hp, 0-60 in 3.6 seconds and 100-0 in less than 100 ft. No way in hell that comes for under 6 figures. Ain't happening! That right there will keep 06' coupe prices in a very sweet spot.

It might even help factory fresh unmodded 03-06 verts because nobody wants to buy some elses modded up and pimped up ride. Not that anyone needs more than 600 HP, BUT if they did and the new 08' is not mod friendly, that is a good sign 03-06 cars are going to do real well. Similar situation to when the new 03s came out. Anyone who did not like it, they paid good prices for a new unsold 01 or 02 or used older model.

1992 RT/10 and 1996 GTS will always have a special place in everyone's heart because they were the firsts and will always do well. Those Viper owners are not the Viper owners now. Who in the day would have thought of modding a 92 RT/10 or a 96 GTS? Now all you see are modded 03-06 verts. Personally I think that has hurt the prices more than this new 08 model will.
