i have the roe HF ovals on my car for 2 years now i think it is. and i had tator install the roe insulation at the same time.

this summer the car kept throwing a code (0420) which im told is a cat problem on the drivers side.

i noticed that the sill insulation was soaking wet when i pulled the sills on that side. and the cat was pretty ugly. lots of surface rust from sitting in the wet insulation.

now i know i need the insulation on the cat cause of the silver sills. i dont wanna repaint them again and wont. but do you think i need the insultion on the resonator still ? that part of the sill never yellowed.

and what cat do you think i should install. im not thrilled about only getting 2 years and maybe 20k miles out the roe's...

keeping in mind im installing a DLM paxton and bellanger headers at the same time...:)

im leaning towards the R/T ceramics right now....

also, i hate to say it but i think im gonna end up going with a cat back at the same time.

i have an x-pipe muffler delete now which is 3" in so the only part that i need is the cat back to the sub assy.

if anyone has a cat back for sale, let me know

Be careful about that insulation being wet..it will rot out your sills from the inside out.

Plum, I'm using the insultion so I'm interested! How did it get wet? Rain, washing? Wouldnt letting the pipes heat up dry out the whole assembly after a while? Do you run air vents on the sill boxes? Love to know.

no vents on mine.

i DO wash it more than most people and i did drive it to my buddy's house a week before i took it apart. but i went on a good cruise and had it warmed up for sure. the drivers side was saoking wet and passenger side was dry.

i think im gonna install the insulation again. but i might only do it on top of the cats and not the mufflers. we'll see....

Because I run with the these blankets as well, I asked the Wizard what the right solution for setting up these insulation kits was.

He recommends allowing for a 1-2" gap of open air running the whole bottom length of the wrap. THis allows for some air flow and as importantly a place for the water to wick out molre easily. Run the whole length, NOT just the cats, add a little pipe heat and your golden.

tator installed it for me but im going against what he told me and you on the stuff.

im gonna just put it on the cat and leave a good size gap at the bottom. im more worried about the heat at that spot than anything else. we'll see, if it starts to yellow, i'll go in and change it around but i gotta try it.

Hey Phil, it sounds to me like your driving WAY too fast and scaring the piss out of yourself (thus the wet yellow sills)! :p

Just wait 'till your DLM install is complete!!! Mine scares the hell out of me!!!

I could write a book outlining what I went through to "fix" the sills on my '95 RT/10 and '97 GTS. Some good things and bad things and what finally seems to have worked. If you want to give me a call I'd be happy to discuss this with you. 863-709-1212. Buck Walsh, Lakeland, Florida.
