Hoping he can get off to play golf on Friday. Then do the show maybe Sat. but for sure Sunday as I leave on a 7:00pm flight back. If any one is close to Mt Lake PM me in case cousin can't get off work Friday and you have an extra seat. See you at the show. :2tu:

It looks like we may have one opening for another Viper in the show. James has run into a bit of extra work and may be out of town during the show. James, if anything changes let me know and we will try to get an additional spot if yours fills. So we have one spot available, anyone interested in sharing in the fun? For those five in the show,(Bob K, Scotty, Clint S, and Tom P,) I have been in touch with the display company GES and received squares of the carpet for color. I think the best color for the display may be the gray being it's very neutral. The red is very orange and the black will make the display dark. If you want to see the colors drop by the store so we can make the decission. I plan on being at the show all three days. See you at the show.

Information on the carpet for the show.

If we go with GES for the carpet it will cost per person $150.00 for the 10x20 area. If we purchase the carpet from Home Depot or a carpet company, we are looking at $600.00 for the entire area of 20x60 plus the time and labor to lay the carpet plus the double sided tape, transportation and removing it when we are finished and storage. The alternative to the issue is forget it and go without the carpet. Not to attractive but cheep. Suggestions????????

If we go with GES are we renting the carpet or buying it? If renting, the price is outrageous and I am not interested. If buying, it is still expensive and I might just find my own at a remnant store ( or go without - after all, it is a car show not a carpet show). Last year the carpet rental was very reasonable. I think GES is ripping people off.
Just my thoughts on the issue.

It looks like I will be working and unable to attend. Things have been crazy lately, not only long hours but several trips coming up for me and my team in the next two months as we roll out new products.

If anyone wants to take my place at the roadster show, please send an email here or contact Bud and/or Bob K directly.

Bob K- Any chance you would want to put another car in the show?

Thanks!
James

I talked with Jason Wilson the Direstor of the show, he comments the carpet was $100.00 last year and due to the complaints from the exibitors he decided not to participete in the carpet issue this year. The show will provide the stands and rope to go around the cars at no charge and has no issue if we choose not to use a floor cover. Your right Bob and I understand the anger, if we rent the carpet we are just paying to purchase old used product without ownership. It is a rip. My thought is get your own carpet or don't use carpet at all. Either way the car will show well. Lets make a group decission and move on with the show, please respond.

I just looked up race decking and came up with an idea that would look good and we can use it at home if we wish... I am checking the prices as we speak, will let you know.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing and was going to check into it as well. The advantage is that it can be taken apart and stored in boxes without taking up much room. You can get a nice finished edging for it as well. I think it would be great for those who show their cars regularly (indoors of course). Let us know what you find out. I know the main dealer (owner?) owns a Viper and gives a nice discount to VCA members.

I just spoke with the Racedeck people. They give a 10% discount to VCA members and a quantity discount to orders of 500 or more tiles. To do a 10' x 20' area will require 200 tiles (your choice of color) plus the edge and corner pieces. The VCA cost for one such display would be $739. If we all ordered it to get the quantity discount it would come to $649 for each display. We would get the same price if only 3 of us ordered it.
If you plan to show your car often in indoor settings it might be the way to go. If you have room to store carpet and don't show often it might make sense to buy a nice piece of carpet. If this might be your only show you may want to bite the bullet and rent their carpet or just go without.
I'm going to spend some time today lookig into buying a piece of carpet, but I may end up renting a piece.
Let's hear from the others entering this show.

I'm just going to go with the GES carpet for $150.00 unless someone comes up with a better idea. I don't feel we have the time to purchase floor carpet or tile and transport, install and remove when we are done. Not to mention the storage. If some one has a better idea let me know before Wednesday.

A yellow car would be great. Are you offering yours? Contact Bud.

I ended up buying a piece of carpet yesterday.

Right on, are we going to just go with the five cars or would we still want a sixth?
I would think that some one would step up.

Basically, yes. Last year, besides adding another coat of polish, I detailed the engine compartment, removed all 4 wheels and cleaned the inside of them, cleaned the wheel wells, shocks, springs, etc. and the underside of the car - and I did this to all 3 of my Vipers. I didn't actually see the judging so I don't know how thoroughly they inspected the cars. I did get a 1st and 3rd in one class and a 2nd in another with huge trophies. It was a lot of work. The cars were so clean I didn't want to drive them after the show. It was a good feeling though and made me more proud of my cars.

Hummmm ... right now, I don't have the time to do that much detailing ... so, I think I will pass.

Thanks for the info.

Has any one thought of contacting dodge and seeing if they would like to put a new viper on display?

Just a though...
