Decided to install the RB1 & iPod, but did not want the iPod cable in the forward section of the center console. Also did not want to do surgery to the glove box to allow it to close, so I found another mounting location for the iPod box closer to the radio. This turned out to be quite a job, as I could only figure to put the box above the central air ducts behind the dash. While the dash was off, I also removed the guage clusters and mounted the SAT antenna on the ducting behind the spedo/tach. Quite a bit of work, but a sano job in the end, hopefully a one-shot deal. Everything works perfectly, quite a nice addition to the car.

i am going to get an ipod very soon prob going to get the 80GB i have aleady uploaded nearly 600cds(which is 1/3 of my music libriary, and between 9,000-10,000 songs so far) into my computer in preparation of getting the ipod. I have only uploaded what i know i will listen to for sure and will get the rest entered over the next few weeks. I am also going to get an external hard drive to backup/store all the music on in case of the computer taking a crap, so all i have to do is unplug the hard drive an connect it to any other computer and still have my music intact. Additionally i have a friend with with an external hd that has over 80megabytes of music that i am going to transfer onto my new external hd

SSSSE YA, Rob is that you? We met one time at the Home Depot car show when I had my graphite Paxton RT/10. Did you guys relocate to Simi? Speaking of music libraries......mine is pathetic, I would pay for someone to burn some CD's / DVD's and send them to me.

for what cds and shipping cost it might be more cost effective to buy an external hard drive and mail that out full of music already, then you can burn what you want to cd's

When you are importing your CD's, don't forget that iTunes has a parameter you can set for reading error correction.

Some of my albums had skips, when listening to the iPod. I deleted them from my iPod, re-coditioned the disks, and set the iTunes import error correction parameter to "on", and re-imported them. No more skips.

thanks for the advice but most of mine are in decent shape and the ones that are not i'll have to go back and redo as the number of cds is just too great to listen to all when uploading. i will probably have to do the samething you did although i have a small stack i need to hit with the plastic polish before uploading

Yes, the NAV antenna works fine in my installation. On initial startup, I had to drive around for about 5 minutes for everything to sync up. Its in the instructions. This is more involved than the installs that others have done, you have to remove the knee bolster to gain access to some dash screws, and also remove the steering wheel column upper and lower covers. Unhook the covers carefully, I made a tool to "unlock" the clips at the rear of the covers without damage so they can be re-used. Next to remove are the gauge clusters. The NAV antenna is zip-tied to the air duct directly behind the tach as can be seen in the photo.

I'm going through the same thing. Just got the 80gig IPOD and the cigarette lighter adapter for the Viper. What is this RB1 thing?

Only downloaded about 50 songs so far.

RB1 = factory navigation radio that fits the Gen III Vipers perfectly. The iPod integrator I installed is the Mopar unit that is a direct hard-wire plug-in to either the stock radio or the RB1. iPod is controlled by the radio, song & artist are displayed, and the iPod is charged with ignition on. Plenty of info if you search.

Sounds nice. I like a clean interior as well. I was thinking of using the iPod ciparette adapter in the glove box. What does the RB1 and ipod integrater look like completed in the Viper?

The integrator is hidden behind the dash. Here are a few RB1 shots I stole from others.... The big difference vs. the cig lighter is that the Mopar unit is sending the music to the radio via hardwire connection. The cig lighter transmits on FM and does not allow the radio to control the iPod. Also, with Mopar, the iPod is hidden away in the glove box / center console.

That's Sharp! And that's a Dodge factory radio.

So the plug in for the iPod they hide in the glove box or is that just what you did?

Also how much?

First picture in post shows where iPod stays in center console(my car).

Second picture shows where the integrator box is located in my car.

2 cables - one from box to radio, another from box to center console for connecting to iPod. All included with the integration kit. Mopar part # 82209616AC.

Both on ebay:

RB1 new in box $700 shipped
iPod integration $152 shipped

That is a pic of my interior above. Here is a pic of the entire set up. I would install the ipod in the center console compartment and install the ipod intergration box above the glove box. i attached it with the supplied velcro and wire ties. i also needed trim the glove box corner a bit which you can not even notice since i took the time to sand it smooth. running the wire to the center compartment is a bit of a pain but not too bad. while i am decent with some tools, i am not mechanic. took about 3 hours total. at the same time i did the mopar upper and lower console in black. the combination of them all really sets of the interior.

Sorry for the big pic but i thought it would give you s better look at the setup.
