I just bought a 1994 dodge viper and the car runs very strong, but it has 75,000 miles on it. How much mileage can this car probably get with the original engine? Thanks.

The seller I bought my GTS from was at the garage last week and someone brought in a 94. It has been driven hard and had 211,000 miles. Car runs great with only minor issues in the past 13 years.

How many licks to get to the center of a tootsie-pop? Depends on how hard and how fast you lick it...Your mileage may vary!

Uh around half a million. I have 250K on my Lexus LS400 and it's solid and tight. There are other ppl on the Lexus forum with 400K+ miles on their motors and I don't see why a V10 can't last as long IF........

1. It's been well maintained.

2. Has not been thrashed/abused.

Number two of the above will be about the only thing that will prematurely destroy the big, Dodge, V10 behemoth.

I think that my only area of concern with a real long term (200+K) would be monitoring oil changes.

and why you ask,
The cam in the motor does not use bearings, it just rides in the alum. block. But not to fear, I've heard a rumor that certain AMC cam bearings can be cut down and used!!

I think that they should go well over 100k miles with ease. I think the only wear item in the engine would be timing chain stretch. It's a low-compression engine that doesn't spin very fast at all. Just keep up on regular maintenance and it should live forever.

isn't the viper engine, just a take off of the v-10 engines they've been puting in their trucks for years...i've seen plenty of those engines with hundreds of thousands miles...should be safe, with regular maintenance!!!

I'm envious of everybody that has 6 digits on their odometer. So much fun is just not right. I'm at a measly 25K in 10 years. :(

That sounds just like my father-in-law's friend's former roomate
who caught that 7' flounder last year but let it go because he
couldn't put it in the cooler...

I'm not knocking your friend persay, but I for one would really,
REALLY, like to see a pic of that speedo.

211K wow.... so lets see... 211K minus 13K divided by roughly 3K a year... Thats awesome!! I have atleast 66 more years of driving my Viper! I'll almost be 100! :)

I bet money you guys that baby and never drive your cars will never see numbers anywhere close to that, and its not because you won't be around for another 66 years. Driving a car does wonders for making it run well.

ENJOY IT!!!

For the record, I don't have few miles because I baby the car, but because I have babies, 3 of them to be be precise. I can't get enough driving time. I think I need to get an M5 or something fast with 5 seats.
